Monterey/Steinbeck Immersion Trip Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday—April 4, 5 and 6. Our Monterey Immersion Trip is a time for students to see various curriculum-based objectives in real life. Students have been studying invertebrates in Science and will get a chance to practice their invertebrate knowledge during Land Lab activities. These labs and further exploration will take place at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Students will visit the John Steinbeck Center in Salinas. They will get to see artifacts from the Steinbeck books they have been reading including “Rocinante,” the truck and camper from Travels With Charley. Also, students will be tide
pooling in Asilomar, beach time at Manresa SP, and enjoying recreational activities at the Monterey Sports Club. The final day of the trip will include a three-hour kayaking adventure in one of the last remaining coastal wetlands reserves in California, Elkhorn Slough.
Students are encouraged to bring $10 on the trip to buy treats at the Ice Cream shop on Wednesday evening.
Tuesday drop off will be at the normal time and we will be leaving on our trip at 9:00. Students will be back at CMP on Wednesday between 4:00 and 4:30.
