and their family dog, Stan. But Stan isn’t an ordinary dog— he’s able to talk and even write about his experiences in a blog. The three siblings on the hit television show are the only ones who know Stan can talk, so the actors—G. Hannelius, Blake Michael and Francesca—spend a lot of time with him.

Mick’s personality “He is very funny and a character, incredibly smart, extremely animated and a very happy, easygoing guy,” says his trainer, Steve. “He also has his Husky side to him, which brings out his ‘naughty’ side, like chewing my slippers, opening doors and digging holes.”

Although Mick sometimes gets distracted, all the actors agree that he’s fun to work with. “Mick’s relationship with the cast couldn’t be any better,” says his trainer, Steve. “He loves to goof around in-between shooting with the kids, and the kids love having a dog actor like Mick around to play with. Deep down, I think every cast member thinks Mick is really their own dog.”
“If Mick could sleep at the studio, I think he would,” says Steve. “He is always very excited to go to work!”

What he likes to do in his down time “When he is not working, he likes to hang at the ranch playing with his best friend Beatrice the French Bulldog, who plays Stella on Modern Family,” says Steve. “They play all day long until they are so tired they just fall asleep.”
His favorite toy “Robert the orange monkey is Mick’s favorite toy in real life, and it actually got worked into the show,” G. reveals. “Anytime he’s playing with that orange monkey, it’s the funniest thing ever.”
