Mound Area Regional Sewer Improvements About the Project Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system, will be replacing our regional sanitary sewer pipe along Westedge Blvd./County Rd. 44 through Mound and Minnetrista (see map on back). The original pipe was installed in 1973 and is reaching the end of its service life. The risk of pipe failure will increase as the pipe nears the end of its service life, which could greatly impact the Lake Minnetonka area. MCES plans to begin construction to replace the approximately 15,400 feet of pipe beginning Spring 2018. The construction is expected to be completed in 2020. This year, you will see some crews surveying, equipment for taking soil samples, and other minor activities in your area to complete the design process and prepare for construction.
Typical Construction Process •
Remove pavement or turf where necessary to install pipes.
MCES will perform the majority of the work within the existing right of way; however, we will also need to work outside of the right of way for access and construction purposes. As a property owner within our project area, please be aware that you will be contacted by our project team in the coming months to discuss project details and potential impacts to your property.
How will the project impact me? While we do our best to minimize impacts during construction, some temporary inconveniences may occur as the work takes place, including: • Parking and traffic restrictions • Contractor equipment locations
wastewater around the construction area.
• Extended work hours, including 24-hour operations during portions of the project
•
Install new pipe and access structures.
• Lights
•

• Dust
•
