SAINSBURY’S VOUCHERS Please send in your Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers. Ask your friends, family and neighbours to collect them and send them in.
We have a vacancy for a Parent Governor which we need to fill as soon as possible. Parent Governors are elected by and from the parents of children currently attending our school. They serve a four-year term of office and bring a very important and valued perspective to the work of the Governing Body. You might like to look at the information for prospective governors on the Gloucestershire County Council website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schoolsnet/ governors Further information on the role can also be obtained through the school office. The Governing Body has a vital role to play in making sure every child receives the best possible education. This is achieved by ensuring that Governors have the necessary skills and commitment to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school. The particular skills that Governing Bodies need will vary and will include personal qualities and capabilities, such as the ability and willingness to learn and work as part of a team. It is expected that governors will make use of the various training opportunities available to them and play a full part in the work of the Governing Body. If you are interested in becoming a Governor, contact the School Office with your nomination (self nomination is acceptable), which will need to be with the School by 1pm on Wednesday 6th May. If there are more nominations than vacancies, an election will be held and you will be sent a voting paper.
YOUNG CARERS
The nomination form is attached to this newsletter.
If your child needs to help care for a parent/sibling at home, please let us know so that we can help access further support.
ASPIRATIONS WEEK At the end of June we will be holding a week of workshops and talks for our children to start to think about the sort of work they might like to do when they grow up. We are looking for adults from all walks of life to help us. If you would be willing to come and talk about your work, please let the School Office know.
SMSC FOCUS Every week the school focuses on a different objective. This week is :“Healing brokenness and seeking justice” and next week is :-
“Encouragement and working for change” If you spot your child meeting this objective at home, please let us know so that we can reward them in school. Better still … can you upload a photo of them doing it to our Twitter site?
BIG WRITE The next Big Write is booked in for Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th May. This time we are hoping to invite a circus skills specialist to come into school and teach the children some circus skills and this will form the basis for the children’s written work. To help cover the cost of the workshop we are asking for a £2 contribution from every child. Please support us. Child’s name ……………………………………………………………………….
