Napa River Oxbow Preserve

SWA led a team in the design of a conservation area along the banks of the Napa River. The project’s primary objective creates a 13-acre Preserve to protect, enhance, and restore the existing wetland, marsh, riparian, and upland habitats found on site. In addition, the Preserve is designed to provide passive recreational and educational opportunities for Napa residents and visitors along the banks of the Napa River near downtown Napa. Public access is provided along an extension of the Napa River Trail, crossing the upper area of the site and allowing for views of a restored grassland. The lower site area, consisting of a restored marsh, fresh water seep, and riparian terraces, allows access on a controlled basis. Pedestrians will be able to view the ecosystems from a primitive trail and from several rustic overlooks along that trail. SWA Group: www.swagroup.com
