Keeping Sports Fun* In last month’s newsletter we had part one of a two part article about Keeping Sports Fun for kids. Here are the basic guidelines for being a good sports parent: Know and respect your coach Get to know your child’s coach and his/her coaching style. Remember they are often unpaid volunteers! Listen to your child Talk to your player before and after games and listen carefully. Encourage effort and reward hard work Being part of a team doesn’t stop at showing up. Encourage your child to make the most of each practice and game. Practice good sportsmanship Lead by example and show your children how to be a good sport. They are watching you in the stands or on the sidelines. Don't create divided loyalties If you disagree with a coaches decision discuss it with them privately and not in front of your player. Check your own ego at the door It’s not all about winning. Sports teach many life lessons to our kids. Don’t be overly competitive.

Open Board Positions Board positions are up for election at our annual meeting in March. Please contact Tim Cashill if you are interested in being part of North Branch Hockey at [email protected]
