New Orleans Metropolitan Area Tennis Association – Board Minutes November 6, 2012 @ MCC Meeting called to order at 12:44 by Bob. Henry welcomed Diane Simpson to our NOMATA board In Attendance: Diane Simpson, Henry Crocker, Bob Browning, Sandy Huston, Joey Kuchler, Kathy Hinrichs, Carla Catalano, Elizabeth Hamlin, Lori Ochsner and Lana Whitlow . Treasurer’s Report: Report presented by Bob League Report: (Kathy) Adult League – Friends, Fun and Fitness thus far 8 registrants. Continue to network to increase beginner league and therefore increase Spring numbers. The Local League Council will hold its annual meeting on NOV. 20. Each year the council adds 2-3 Captains & 1 local tennis pro as members to the council to serve for a one year term. For the 2013 term Nicole Smith (4.5), Rachelle Simpson (3.0) and Joey Kuchler will serve. May add one more Captain from the 3.5 level. 2013 Spring League’s Captains meetings will be held in December. The dates will be posted on the website very soon. Carla reported that Flex League is still accepting players to sub for those who are injured or unavailable to complete season. JTT – (Diane) 290 kids playing which is down from Spring due to nonparticipation by A’s & Aces. Desire to add advanced team for next season. 10&Under Report: (Kathy) • St Phillip School Assembly was huge success. Will expand on school assemblies in January. Marketing & Media (Elizabeth) • Credit with Times Picayune for advertising remains. Will not run ad for Thanksgiving week. Gambit advertisement generated interest in FF&F program.
Website/Facebook Report: (Joey) ·● Discussion regarding Facebook and NOMATA site. Facebook had it 200th ‘like’. Kathy will talk with BJ about capability of our existing site to determine if pictures can be posted and scrolled. NOMATA’s anniversary is November 20th New Business: Friends, Fun and Fitness – focus on recruitment of beginner players. 8 registrants paid thus far. Continue promoting event. Congratulations to Diane for being chosen Awards Chairman. Discussion regarding upcoming Board Elections. Looking for a Secretary to begin in 2013. Proposal underway for new weekend league for 18&over players. Plan to implement additional league coordinators. Kathy Proposed increase in stipend to coordinators. Open discussion held and proposal seconded by Bob. Increase approved. NOMATA to implement $2.00 increase to cover cost, advertising and keep us comparable to surrounding area fee. Next meeting will be December 11th at 12:30. Location TBA. Coordinators will be invited to lunch rather than separate dinner event. Henry motioned and meeting adjourned at 2:30.
