Children meet their new teachers to work on whole school project! Our fantastic children were introduced today to the teacher who will be taking them in September as they change into their new year group. Every Friday, children will work with their new teacher on a whole school project so that they get to know each other and ensure they feel settled and excited for their new year ahead. The project with their new teachers is based on a beautifully illustrated book ’Journey’ by the author Aaron Becker in which a lonely girl draws a magic door on her bedroom wall and through it escapes into a world where wonder, adventure, and danger abound. Today the children talked about the pictures, how the little girl was feeling and what could be behind the red door that she drew. They then created their own doors and using their imagination, decided where they would go to on their own journey. Meanwhile the year six children were visited by students and English teacher Mrs Howard from Hillside High school to carry out some exciting English activities and to talk to the children about life in Secondary school. All children will continue to work on the project for the following three Fridays to create artwork and writing based on the book whilst the rest of the week will be spent with their current class teacher.

As you know, Ofsted visited school this week. Our children showed them just how enthusiastic, hardworking and well-behaved they truly are. The staff pulled out all the stops to show all the improvements that have gone on in school. They are a fantastic team who continue to give their best for our wonderful children. Together we make an excellent team. The report will be published in a few weeks and you will all receive a copy. Can I also wish good luck to the children performing in the Wally Cain Dance festival tonight at the Southport Theatre. We can’t wait to see you up on stage! Well done to Miss Darling and Miss Leonard for all their hard work in preparing for the event. Dates for other upcoming events will be available next week. Have a fabulous weekend! Mrs J.
