Have a great half term! Thank you to all the children, staff, parents, carers and our wider community for what has been a wonderful term. Lots of exciting learning has taken place and the children have done really well. Keep an eye on our Twitter Feed to see some photos from the day. Have a great half term and see you all back at school on Monday 31st October.

Mr Beament

We need you! Christmas is just round the corner and we have a planned date of Friday 2nd December 3.30pm—5pm for the school’s Christmas Fair. We want this to be a huge success, raise lots of money for the school and most importantly be a fun experience for our families. The Christmas Fair can only take place with a team of volunteers that can bring ideas, plan, organise and help on the day. Mr Beament invites you to a meeting on:

Tuesday 8th November at 2.30pm Mr Beament will lead and chair this meeting. By helping out at the Christmas Fair you are not committing to becoming a PTA member however we would love to have more parents on board in the future.

The new website is due to go live during the half term holiday! Thank you to parents who have fed back to the website survey and the positive feedback I have received on the new style newsletters. If there is anything you feel is not communicated effectively through the newsletter, website, email system or Twitter. Please let us know. We are very keen to continue to improve communication with our families and keep you informed and up to date with everything happening at SSJS.

Lunchtime Quiet Club to start after half term Next term quiet club will start at lunchtimes. This gives children who struggle with lunchtime or children that just want a quiet lunchtime a space to read, chat, colour and just relax.

Year 5 (Miss Parkes) Class Assembly has had to be moved and will now take place on Friday 9th December at 2.45pm.

Parent’s Evenings Will be held next Term: Monday 14th November 5pm-8pm

A surprise visit from an Olympic silver medallist The children had a surprise visit from Olympic silver medallist, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor. She spent the whole morning visiting classrooms, answering questions, signing autographs and having photos taken. All the children were lucky enough to hold the silver medal and ask lots of questions. The children were very excited (as were some of the staff!)

After our successful trial and staff training, all classes will be using Class Dojo next term. We are now ready to implement the approach fully along with a new behaviour policy. The policy will be finalised by staff at the beginning of next term and will include the full explanation of our Class Dojo approach. This policy will then be shared with parents and carers. Thank you to all the parents, children and staff for their feedback during this trial. It’s great to hear it is having a positive impact in school and at home. We have made a number of tweaks during this trial which will ensure the official roll out next term should be a success.
