The Fat Quarterly Greetings from The Cottage!

Open Sewing Nite

It has been a busy summer for us! Brittany graduated from UNK in May with a degree in Biology and then married Adam Sevenker on June 5th at Mona in Kearney. Everything turned out great and the wedding was beautiful! They have moved to Omaha and she will begin medical school at UNMC in August. Needless to say we are very proud of her!

Join us on the 3rd      Tuesday night of each  month from 6:00 to 9:00  pm  for Open Sewing  Nite!  Catch up on any of  your Block of the Month  projects you are working  on!  This is a fun group  and we do lots of talk‐ ing...from the latest and  greatest quilt books and  patterns we have seen or  sharing new recipes.    Admission is free,          except you have to bring  your smile!

Summer Class Schedule Toothbrush Rugs 

Buggy Barn Class 

Taught By:  Sharon Risley    No Sewing!!  You can use old material you  have in your stash or choose  all new fabric to match your  home décor!    Wednesday September 22nd  6:00 to 9:00 pm    $5.00 Class Fee    Plus Supplies 

  If you’ve never taken a Buggy  Barn Class before...now is your  chance to learn!  Select from  your favorite Buggy Barn pat‐ tern and come to class to learn  how to stack your fabric, cut  through your layers, shuffle  your piles...then sew them  back together!   

Saturday  September 11th  10:30 am to 3:30 pm    $25.00 Class Fee  Includes Lunch  Please purchase your supplies      before the day of class. 

Civil War Tribute   BOM Club 

Class Policies:     

* All Classes must be pre‐registered  for and payment is due at the time  of registration.  Phone registrations  will hold a spot for 48 hours.  * You may cancel at least three  days prior to the class time and the  class fee will be refunded as store  credit ‐ sorry no cash refunds.    * Patterns and supplies are not  included in the class fee unless oth‐ erwise noted.  * With class registrations, receive a  10% discount on all class supplies.   Please have all the materials needed  for the class before the class begins.   This allows for class to start at the  scheduled time.  We don’t want to  cut into the class time trying to  gather materials.  * Classes will be held at the Cot‐ tage unless otherwise noted.  * Cottage Inspirations reserves the  right to cancel any class if the mini‐ mum number of students aren’t  registered three days before the  class starts.  If we cancel the class  your registration fee will be re‐ funded. 

 

Come to the cottage on the  4th Tuesday evening of each  month from 6:00 to 9:00 pm  and work on your Civil War  Tribute blocks.    There will be talking, snack‐ ing, (and of course some  sewing)  going on!    It’s a great way to keep     current on these beautiful  blocks!  When finished this  will be a one of a kind   heirloom quilt!      (If you haven’t signed up   yet, we still have a   few spots left!) 

Machine Appliqué Class  Taught By:  Celia Liffrig    Saturday October 9th  10:30 am to 3:30 pm    $25.00 Class Fee    Plus Supplies  Includes Lunch    Learn the tech‐ niques you  need to create  your own   masterpiece!! 

Hannah’s Little Quilt Club       

Meets at the Cottage on the  third Thursday evening of each  month from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.   We are making  little quilts  from the book “Prairie Chil‐ dren and Their Quilts” by Kath‐ leen Tracy.  Due to popularity  of this club, we are planning          another session on the 2nd  Thursday of each month start‐ ing in September.  Let us know  if you want to join the fun and  make these wonderful doll  quilts to decorate your home.

Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Block of the Month                  

Starting in October…. The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt is a collection of 111 six inch blocks put together in a queen size sampler quilt. Each month for 18 months we will make 6 or 7 blocks for which you will receive 8 fat eighths of reproduction fabrics. The last month you will receive the sashing, setting and border fabrics. The Farmer’s Wife Book includes a CD so you can print templates for the blocks. Cost is $15.00 per month, plus book $27.99.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad    INGREDIENTS:   1/2 c margarine   1/4 c brown sugar, melted    1 1/2 c crushed pretzels   3 oz pkg strawberry Jello   1 c boiling water   16 oz frozen sliced strawberries (thawed, undrained)   Wind & Willow Strawberries & Cream Cheeseball Mix   8 oz. cream cheese, softened   4 T. margarine, softened   DIRECTIONS:   Mix margarine, brown sugar and crushed pretzels; press into an  8x8 pan; bake 350 for 10 min; cool   Mix Jello into boiling water and allow to cool. Stir in strawberries  and refrigerate until thickened; pour over cooled crust   Mix remaining ingredients well, spread over strawberry mixture  and sprinkle with crunch topping. Chill well; 6 servings.
