Installation The junction box may be installed indoors or outdoors in a variety of environments. Glands installed in the bottom of the box protect against rain or spraying water ingress that may damage internal components. The junction box has mounting flanges on both the top and the bottom, providing mounting holes in all four corners. Benefits The Cobalt junction box is designed to house a Cobalt device coupler (CDC8) in the field. The CJ9 has 9 cable glands to accommodate a trunk cable and 8 device cables. If less than 9 glands are needed, the included gland plugs can be used to cap the extra glands. The junction box is made of durable polycarbonate, which can be used in many caustic environments without corroding. Polycarbonate is also lightweight, impact resistant, and provides protection against UV exposure. A clear cover allows the indicator LEDs to be seen without opening the box, making field troubleshooting simpler. A lockable latch protects the enclosed equipment from unexpected tampering. A breather equalizes the pressure inside the junction box with the outside environment to protect against box pressurization. The breather allows air to pass while blocking water and dust. An IP67 rating means the junction box will protect equipment against dust and water submersion.
