GAME NOTES THE SERIES: NJCU leads, 2-0 (14-1 goal differential). LAST MEETING: October 1, 2007 in Jersey City, NJ. NJCU won, 6-0. The Knights also won on September 13, 2006 at home, 8-1. 2012 NJCU LIBERTY CUP: NJCU opens the 2012 home portion of its schedule this weekend and welcome three regional schools to the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field for the annual Liberty Cup tournament. NJCU has hosted the event in either a men’s or women’s format in every season since 2004, except for 2008. This will be the sixth men’s Liberty Cup and the first since 2009. Nana Kofi Kusi The Knights own an all-time 9-1-0 record in the tournament, winning the event in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009. North Carolina Wesleyan College claimed the other title in 2007. FDU-Florham will be participating for the third time. The Devils are 4-0-0 all-time in the event, twice finishing second based on tiebreakers in 2004 and 2009. Baruch and Keystone are both first-time participants. ARAUJO IS BLAZING: After scoring twice as a freshman last year, forward Raphael Araujo has burst onto the scene in his second year. He currently leads the New Jersey Athletic Conference with four goals Andrew Lopes and nine points in three games. Araujo has scored at least once in all three games. LAST TIME OUT: On Wednesday, NJCU won its second straight, downing CCNY, 2-0. After an own goal, Araujo gave NJCU a 2-0 lead at the break which stood up behind the Knights’ defense. Rookie keeper Kevin Fuentes, making his second start for a banged up Sheldon Parkinson, made four saves to notch his first NCAA shutout. ABOUT KEYSTONE: The Giants enter after picking up their first win of the season, 2-1, on September 2. Adam Kashuba and Jake Younie each scored Andrew Carvalhoso an unassisted goal in the victory.
