North Sunrise Touchin’ Base March 24, 2012

Volume 2, Issue 4

Dugout Diaries Angels In the Outfield……AND Infield! On March 21, 2012 the NSLL AAA Angels took on the Olive Little league Angels. It was the first interleague game of the season. Both teams came ready to play and the sun was out so it was going to be another beautiful day in baseball. Due the the rain last weekend the coach of our NSLL Angels Jon Sloniger decided to play around with the line up and start a rookie pitcher by the name of Andrew Sloniger. After 2 complete inning and 4 strike outs the score was 2-1 NSLL Angels. Then he brought on the new Rookie pitcher Davis Smith who was able to give them one inning of no runs. There were a number of great hits and feats including a new kid to baseball Allen Rivada who took not one but two wild pitches to the back in the same game. Now that is a ball player that is willing to do what it takes to help his team win. Boys that got hits and contributed to our lead of 7-1 was Nate Freeman, William St.Marsille, Matt Allen, Bobby Perez, Kyle Shrieves, and Luke Belden. Continued on Page 2……..

Offenses dominate as the Brewers outscore the Olive Little League Angels 12-10

……Continued from Page 1 Then when just when you think you got it in the bag, their team has a huge come back rally in the bottom of the 5th inning. We then get to the bottom of the 6th and walk the first guy and the next gets a hit. With the score at 7-6 Coach Sloniger brings in the "Closer", Luke Belden. His first few pitches start him out slow. The next batter has a half swing hit to the second basemen and with a quick bobble of the ball all the runners were safe. With bases loaded here is where it got insane. The next three pitches were balls and with the game on the line the CoCaptain reached back and with all his courage threw 3 straight strikes and struck him out. Then he took 6 pitches to strike out the next batter. Now, because of the rains the coach was not going to have him pitch more than 20 pitches and when he was at his 14th pitch, things were getting very intense. Luke looked at catcher Nate Freeman and let it go 3 straight pitches and three straight strikes the game is over. The kids were jumping and excited but the best part is the coach looked like a genius. In the meeting after the game they discussed team work and accomplishments and the one thing we all know:

The bats were busy at NSLL North on Wednesday, and when the dust cleared the Brewers had a 12-10 win over the Olive Little League Angels in six innings.

There were 19 hits, including five extra base hits in the game. The Brewers scored five runs in the first inning to build an early lead. Cooper Jackman racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Brewers. Jackman singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fourth inning.

Aggressive base running led to 11 steals for the Brewers. Anthony Garcia, Jack Licata, and Jack Stein each had one stolen base, Jackman had two stolen bases, and Emilio Spadaro and Mason Wolf each had three stolen bases. Five relief pitchers finished off the game for the Brewers. Licata faced six batters in relief, while Andy Mendoza managed to

In the game of baseball not one thing wins or loses a game, but a team that works together can do anything.

record two outs to aid the victory. Garcia, Jackman, Licata, Ryan Osso, Stein, and Spadaro each got hits for the Brewers. Spadaro led the team with three hits.

Keep Up the Good Work Brewers!

Thank you team parents for all your hard work so far. Your time and energy is much appreciated!
