W E LCO M E T O G R A N G E R K I D S MEET YOUR AREA COORDINATORS Julie Meiser - Nursery
With a BA in Elementary Education, Julie has worked as teacher for years in various school settings. She knows she has been shaped to serve God by loving children, while working in a team with others. She’s also passionate about missions and has been to Nicaragua three times with Granger Community Church (GCC) teams. When asked how she sees faith come alive each weekend in the children she serves, she shared, “Faith can be witnessed through play and other interactions with other children and adults in our environments. It can be seen in a smile, it can be heard through songs and laughter, and felt through cuddles and hugs. She and her husband John have two sons, Carson and Cole. She’s been volunteering in the nursery at GCC for nearly two years.
Melanie Curtis - Nursery
Melanie has several degrees, including four Associates degrees in Health Administration, Human Resource Management, Medical Technology and Education and Training. She joined the United States Air Force right out of High School in 1994 and served 10 years active duty, 10 years as a reservist and then retired in 2014. She has volunteered with children for years, and says of her experience caring for babies in the nursery, “I see faith come alive in these children each weekend in the sparks in their eyes and the smiles on their faces. Each and every child that I handle is a true blessing and a miracle gift from God.”
WH Y SHO ULD I S E N D MY C H I L D T O GR AN GE R K I D S E V E RY W E E K ? With your busy schedule, this is a legitimate question to ask, and I’m glad you did. There are three main things that we are offering that kids today are NOT getting anywhere else. First, we offer a relationship with someone not in their family that is safe, can be trusted and will speak truth about God to them in a loving way. Second, we are committed to helping kids take their next steps toward Christ together in a way that they will understand, enjoy and be able to use in their real life right away! Wait…there’s more! Third, we are unashamedly FOR families, in fact, it is strategic in all that we do. We understand that there is no greater influence on the spiritual development of a child than their family—whatever your family looks like. Our hope is that we can get these two great institutions (i.e., the family and the church) aligned in purpose and mission so that together, we can “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) We call that thinking Orange. Orange = Unconditional love of the family (
) + light that comes from the church community of faith (
)
In today’s culture more than ever, kids need a connection to others that can reinforce what is being taught in the home, other leaders that kids can learn to trust and seek practical wisdom from. So we are going to be intentional about doing just that!

W HAT AR E T H E Y L E A R N I N G ? Great question! Though our programming always involves stories from the Bible, life application activities and live worship, much of the content is anchored by these core, basic truths: Elementary: • I need to make the wise choice. • I can trust God no matter what. • I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Preschool: • God made me. • God loves me. • Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
