The Schoharie County 4-H Program’s Achievement Awards recognition event will be held on Friday, October 21 at the Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Schoharie. It was suggested this year we revive the old custom of having a potluck supper. We ask that your family bring a dish to pass. The 4-H staff will provide baked ziti, tableware, drinks, and a cake for dessert. We ask for rsvp’s and what you plan on bringing by October 19. 6 to 6:30 arrive, set up, and socialize 6:30 - Dinner 7:15 - Awards Presentations

4-H Officer Training
Sewing workshop– Decorator Pillow

4-H Leaders be sure to send your 4-H members to the annual 4-H Officer Training. 4-H Officer Training will be offered at the same time as 4-H Leader Rally!
Make a decorator style pillow for yourself or to give as a Christmas gift. All materials will be provided with a $5 fee to cover the cost. Youth must be 8 yrs old. Call to register as space is limited.
Who should attend? All 4-H members, especially the officers in Otsego and Schoharie Counties who want to run better club meetings. Members will learn how to fulfill the duties of their office and conduct a business meeting at this hands-on workshop. Please RSVP by November 2.
4-H Leader Rally While 4-H members are learning to run better club meetings, adults can learn something new. Two workshops will be offered . The first will be Team Building Activities and games for your club meetings with Nancy Brumaghim of the Schoharie County Youth Bureau. Team building games help groups with communication, cooperation and confidence among group members. The second workshop will be a hands on experience you can take home to do with your club. Felting Soap with June Preston, local fiber artist, will lead you through the steps to create a felted soap masterpiece.
The 4-H Afterschool Program of Cornell Cooperative Extension resumed with the new school year at the Cobleskill-Richmondville and Schoharie Central School Districts. The CRCS site has 67 youth enrolled with 8 staff running the program. The Schoharie site has 42 youth and 5 staff. Youth have discussed their interests and ideas for clubs within the program to explore topics. The 4-H Afterschool Program is coordinated by Susan Salisbury.

Wonders of Washington 2017 Plans are now under way for Wonders of Washington 2017! The trip is being coordinated by Joan Prouty, Washington County 4-H volunteer who has served in this role for several years. Dates: Monday, February 20 – Friday, February 24, 2017. Location: The national 4-H Center, Chevy Chase, MD Transportation: Chartered Bus Estimated Cost: $900.00 which includes lodging, transportation, meals at the Center, the dinner theater, tips. Cost will be finalized once actual participation is known. Trip Highlights: Educational programs at the Center, Legislative visit plus a tour of the Capitol Night Tour of DC, Arlington Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Smithsonian, Dinner Theatre Deadlines: Participation commitment and full payment due December 30, 2016 .
