October 5, 2017 Texas Educators Vote Updat e Register by October 10th to vote in November 8th Election! While the March 6th, 2018 primary election is the BIG one where 90% of Texas elections are decided, EVERY election is important! In just about a month, on November 7th, many of your districts will vote on bond proposals and all voters will weigh in on several constitutional amendments. Getting educators in the habit of voting in every election is how we can create a culture of voting! Registrations must be received in person by Tuesday, October 10th and those received by mail must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 10th in order for a voter to be eligible to vote in the November 7th election. Please let your district employees know that they can find out if they are registered, update their address, or register for the first time here. Additional information about voter registration, and what is on each person’s ballot can be found here. Since last week’s update when we listed which districts had joined Texas Educators Vote, signed the TASB Culture of Voting Resolution, and started having employees take the Oath to Vote, there has been a whirlwind of activity! We are thanking districts for joining on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Make sure you are following us on Twitter @TxEdVote and Facebook @TexasEducatorsVote so you can share and retweet our thanks to your communities! As of today, 136 districts have “joined”, 26 school boards have signed the Resolution, and over 800 educators have signed the Oath. If you haven’t already done so, please join your district, ask your school board to sign the Resolution, and encourage your employees to sign the Oath. Here is an updated list as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 3rd. Key: 1. Anything marked in RED is new from last week. 1. The following list is all of the districts that have officially joined Texas Educators Vote. (If you are not on the list, click here to join) 2. “O” denotes districts where at least one teacher and/or staff member has signed the Oath to vote. (If you don’t have an “O” next to your name, click here to access the Oath) 3. “R” denotes districts that have had their school board sign the TASB Culture of Voting Resolution. (If you don’t have an “R” next to your name, please ask your board to approve the Resolution at their next meeting and email us at [email protected] to let us know when they do!)
