September 28, 2017 Texas Educators Vote Update Make sure your district is participating The Giant has opened her eye. Now let’s make sure she is really awake! Texas Educators Vote is off and running and we are encouraged to see so many districts embracing the challenge of creating a culture of voting. More districts are signing on every day! Kudos to the districts that have already “joined” Texas Educators Vote. We hope that your leadership will inspire others to spring to action and join us now! The sleeping giant must awaken completely if educators are to make a difference in upcoming elections. If just one eye is open, or only one toe or one elbow is moving, the giant (700,000 people working in Texas public schools) won’t make it to the polls and get us the legislature our 5.4 million students deserve! Key: 1. The following list is all of the districts that have officially joined Texas Educators Vote. (If you are not on the list, click here to join) 2. “O” denotes districts where at least one teacher and/or staff member has signed the Oath to vote. (If you don’t have an “O” next to your name, click here to access the Oath) 3. “R” denotes districts that have had their school board sign the TASB Culture of Voting Resolution. (If you don’t have an “R” next to your name, please ask your board to approve the Resolution at their next meeting and email us at
[email protected] to let us know when they do!) 4. Districts in blue are All Star Districts that have joined, signed the resolution, and have teachers/staff signing the Oath. We know that you are busy educating kids and inspiring the next generation of Texans to reach their fullest potential. There is no more noble calling than educating children. However, the only way we can help you get laws that enable you to do this is by having elected officials who value and support public education. Please take action by joining us today at TexasEducatorsVote.com. Challenge your neighbor districts to join also. The sleeping giant should be hopping mad after last session and the special session. With all of us working together, she will be able to hop her way right to the polls and make her teacher voice heard! Many thanks for your commitment to ALL Texas children! Sincerely, Laura Yeager TACS Governmental Affairs Director, Texas Educators Vote
