Online Manager Reports To: General Manager Paid: Yes The Online department works closely with all areas of the organization to manage the functionality and technical aspects of the company’s website, mndaily.com. The website is a counterpart to the print publication, but includes additional features unique to our online presence. Responsibilities: Responsible for all technical maintenance of mndaily.com website Act as liaison with website provider, SNworks, for upgrades and enhancements Coordinate user access and permissions Monitor website to ensure functionality; respond to user requests or notifications Work with department heads to design and create pages Update non-news content as requested Suggest improvements to maximize reader experience Manage maintenance of MyDaily intranet Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Knowledge/Education Must be a University of Minnesota student, preferably in a computer-related major (MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.). Knowledge of website structure Ability to troubleshoot complex issues Project management, project planning, and task delegations skills preferred Good communication skills to relate complex technical issues to other departments and users Summer availability preferred Technical requirements Knowledge of web application frameworks Experience with node.js, ruby on rails, django desirable Must be currently-enrolled University of Minnesota student with at least two semesters remaining before graduation. This is a management-level position that requires some prior knowledge and/or experience in web application frameworks.
