Simi Community Church is looking for a self-motivated, creative individual to help the church reach more people for Christ, assimilate them into the life of the church, and help them grow.
The City Simi Valley is a large city that feels like a small town. The City of Simi Valley sits at the Southwestern edge of Ventura County and is completely surrounded by the Santa Susana Mountains on the North and the Simi Hills on the South. Simi Valley started out as a farm town. The main crops were citrus and walnuts. Over the years more and more people were drawn to the quiet city because of its climate and its family friendly atmosphere. The city has grown to a present population of over 125, 000 people. It has a suburban, mostly Caucasian (75%) population. It is known for its good school district and as a great place to raise a family. Simi Valley is the home of a couple of unique landmarks. The first of these landmarks is the Ronald Reagan Library. Tourists come from all over the country to visit the library, which houses Air Force One and Marine One. A second landmark is the old Corriganville Movie Ranch where movies and TV shows were filmed such as “The Lone Ranger,” “The Adventures of Rin-Tin-Tin,” and “Star Trek.” The ranch is no longer used for filming but is a fun historical park to walk through. Simi Valley is one of the more affordable places to live in Ventura County. It offers hiking and biking, and other outdoor activities. The climate is typical Southern California. We have warm summers and friendly winters. From Simi Valley you can be at either the beach or in the mountains in under an hour.

The Church
Spring 2012
Simi Community Church was founded in 1961 as First Baptist Church of Simi Valley. A group of people came together with a vision to plant a church and spread the light of the gospel in a small rural community in Southern Ventura County. Simi Valley at the time was a small farming community. While the context of our community has changed over the last 56 years the mission of bringing the gospel has not changed. Simi Valley is now a city of over 125,000 people. At Simi Community Church we recognize that God has planted us in this city to reach not only this community but also the world with the gospel. The mission of Simi Community Church is to make “Fully Devoted Followers of Christ.” A fully devoted follower of Christ is a person who embraces three commitments. They are committed to the person of Jesus Christ. They seek to follow him and are pursuing the desire to be transformed into His image. They are committed to the body of Christ. They recognize that true growth in Christ happens as they become involved with other believers in the pursuit of Christ. They are committed to the mission of Christ. They live on mission to make and multiply disciples of Jesus through preaching of the gospel and discipleship. For the last 3 years Simi Community Church has been in a place of slow but steady growth. We have recently been able to add part time directors to oversee our children’s ministry, youth ministry and young adult ministries. This has been necessary as we have seen many young families begin to attend. The current average attendance for Simi Community Church is between 200 – 250. Over the next 5 years we are asking God to expand our reach to between 400 – 500 people in average attendance. Currently our children’s ministry serves 40 kids each Sunday. We also have 60 kids in our mid-week AWANA ministry. A very committed volunteer staff staffs each of these areas. Simi Community Church has historically had a very vibrant youth ministry. Currently our youth ministry sees 80 students on campus every week. They are very active in reaching their friends for Christ.
