Oxford Park Commission Youth Softball LEAGUE RULES & REGULATIONS Girls 9/10 y.o. SOFTBALL 1. All games shall be governed by A.S.A. Softball with the exception of OPC league rules. 2. Ball used is an A.S.A. 11” .47 cor 375 comp softball. Base distance is 60 feet. Pitching distance is 35 feet. a. Kid pitch will be used the first (1) inning of play. Balls and strikes will be called as normal. During the first inning of play a team’s half inning is over after Three (3) outs or Three (3) runs are scored. b. Beginning in the second (2) inning until the end of the game, a pitching machine will be used. Balls and strikes will not be called but the umpire. Each player will receive 6 pitches. A player is out if they do not put the ball in play after the 6th pitch or if they swing and miss three (3) times. There are no walks when machine is used. While the pitching machine is being used, a team’s half inning is over after Three (3) outs or Six (6) runs are scored. 3. All games will begin at the scheduled or announced time. a. Any team failing to field at least Seven (7) uniformed players after 10 minutes of the scheduled time shall forfeit the game. b. Line‐ups must be turned in to the scorekeeper Ten (10) minutes before game time. 4. A regulation game will consist of Six (6) innings or Seventy (70) minutes whichever comes first. a. If a game is tied after 6 innings or 70 minutes until the school year is finished. Once the school year is finished the teams may play one (1) extra tie-breaker inning. If the game is still tied after one tie-break inning, the game will end in a tie. b. The tie-breaker rule: The last batter who was recorded out in the previous inning will begin the tie-break at second base with no outs. c. Games called due to rain or other causes will be official if Four (4) innings (3½ if the home team is ahead) have been played. 5. All players present will be listed in the line-up to bat. This is to ensure that all players have an opportunity to see some time at the plate. Nine (9) players play defensively at a time. Free defensive substitutions can be made throughout the game. 7. Batting helmets with facemasks must be worn by all offensive players involved in the game (on deck, at bat, or on base). 8. No infield practice will be taken before games.

9. All equipment must remain inside the dugouts. Players 11. No intentional walks are allowed. Every batter must be pitched to. 12. Any Nine (9) players may play defense at any time. Free defensive substitutions are allowed. 13. All players must play 50% of the game and “start” in half of the team’s games. If a player has not entered the game on defense after 35 minutes, she must go in the game. 14. No jewelry is to be worn. 15. Only team coaches (maximum of 3) and players will be allowed in the dugout. 16. No stealing is allowed. 17. Batters cannot advance on a dropped third strike. Practices 1. Teams will be allowed a maximum of Two (2) practices per week. 2. Practices are for 1-2 hours. 3. Practices on FNC Park fields must be registered through the online scheduler on the FNC Park website (www.fncpark.com). Coaches will receive a confirmation email clarifying field time and location. Coaches may only reserve a practice via the website. If special assistance is needed Jared Barkley or FNC director of Operations may assist with scheduling a practice. Rain‐Out Information 1. Visit www.oxfordparkcommission.com 2. Game cancellations will be posted as soon as they are made, but may be made as late as 4:00 pm. 3. All games will be re‐scheduled; however, they may not be rescheduled on a day you would not normally play.
