campus soon and we’ll get a chance to see how much they’ve changed and developed over just a few short months! We’re also very excited to welcome our incoming class and get them acclimated to our Pacer Family! We’ve also invested a great deal of time in the evaluation of next year’s class throughout this past month, attending several events and watching countless hours of basketball as rising high school seniors put themselves on display during AAU tournaments, Elite camps and summer league games. With how busy this past month was for our staff, we didn’t get a chance to acknowledge what an amazing camp experience we had in June! Our Instructional Camp from June 27 – July 1 hosted 64 boys from ages 7-15 and everyone had a blast. We’re hoping to offer two weeks next summer to meet the request of many campers and their families! Unfortunately, this summer we were only able to offer one week since there’s a major project going on in the gym for the past week or so. Without giving away too much, I figured I’ll share a little teaser with you and maybe in next month’s edition will show off our new design?

I could have saved this for next month’s edition of the Pacers Post-Up but we’re a little too excited to wait! Go Pacers!

Enrico Mastroianni Summer Recruiting

Contrary to popular belief, the summer does not provide a lot of downtime for coaches. Particularly, the month of July is considered the “live” recruiting period and our staff covered many events and many miles to secure the future of our program. We evaluated thousands of players in an attempt to narrow down our list of prospective Pacers for the fall of 2017. Some of the events we attended throughout the month of July are listed below: Date

PAGE 2 Camp Recap and Highlights

On June 27, 2016, Marywood men’s basketball staff and players welcomed 64 young men to the first Boys Basketball Instructional Camp. Over the course of the week, a normal day consisted of station work, camp competitions, lunch, games and everyone's favorite POOL TIME to close out the day. During station work the players were put through drills that emphasized improvement in shooting, ball handling, passing, rebounding, moving without the ball, plyometric and agility exercises and defense. Campers, coaches and players all showed great energy and enthusiasm throughout the week. Games were very competitive to include a few buzzer beaters and sudden death overtime wins.

Overall it was an incredible week for Marywood Basketball as we received great feedback from campers and parents and hopefully engaged some new fans and possibly some future Pacers! Coach Mastroianni, staff and players would like to thank everyone that helped us have such a memorable camp experience!

PAGE 2 Q&A with TJ

While we were very lucky to see most of our guys during our camps, one Pacer was just a bit too far away to make it in for the summer. Tyler (TJ) Anderson completed his freshman year at Marywood in May, however, his debut in a Pacers uniform will have to wait until this coming November. TJ suffered a serious knee injury during his senior season at Winters High School in California where he lives and missed most of that season along with the entire 2015-2016 year. Coach Mastroianni is very much looking forward to seeing TJ compete in this upcoming season, “TJ is an amazing kid with a high-energy, positive attitude

that permeates through the team. I’m sure the other guys are just as excited as I am to see their friend from the other coast!” Q: What made you decide to attend Marywood University?

A: Mid way through my senior year I had a very bad knee injury and Marywood maintained their interest when others did not. As I learned more I decided to make a visit and liked what I saw. It was a great match for me academically; once I saw Marywood believed in me I knew this was a place and program I wanted to be involved in! Q: Was it difficult to choose a University so far from home and what factors helped to make that decision easier for you?

A: For me the hardest was being away from my family. What made the decision easier for me was the family of Marywood basketball and close friends and roommates! I felt welcomed into this group on the other side of the country and have made bonds with them that last forever! Q: What's your Major? What are your plans after college?

A: My major is Business Management and I am joining the 5 year MBA program. After college I plan to play basketball as long as God allows me to, after that I will pursue a career in the Business management field (hopefully sports). Q: What was it like, not being able to play last season as a freshman?

A: It was WEIRD! Good weird and bad weird though. I loved getting to look at the game from a different perspective, I have always viewed the game as a player and I feel like I was able to learn so much by taking a different perspective to the game. It was bad in the fact that I wanted to be able play and get on the floor and get after it, but I learned to keep my spirits high and try to bring those around me up also! Q: What are you most looking forward to upon your return to campus??

A: I am looking forward to getting back in general, it's going to be great to see everyone! Being on west coast I had to apply my newly learned FaceTime skills to my east coast family! Q: What's your favorite aspect of being a member of the Pacers Men's Basketball Program?

A: My favorite part about being a member of the Pacers Program is the family feel within the team. Q: What would you say was your most memorable moment of the 2015-2016 season?

A: My most memorable moment last season was making an impersonation skit of the coaches at the Tip-Off Dinner! Q: What are your expectations for the 2016-2017 season?

A: I can’t wait for us to have a great season and I can't wait to start meeting the new recruits! I’m excited to start in general! Q: What would you say to a prospective student-athlete about the Men’s Basketball Program at Marywood University?

A: Come and visit us! Come out to see if you’re a good match for the way we play and if you mesh well with the guys on the team. If you’re looking for an opportunity to compete and help us win, we can't wait to meet you!
