Joining the generations@school Panoramio group Adding your photos to generations@school We want everyone to be able to see the great things that happened in your generations@school event, so we have set up a gallery for your photographs. We’d love you to add your photos! By sharing experiences and photos from your project, you will also be participating in a European competition. A prize per country will be given to the most outstanding generations@school project. Judges will select the winning in accordance with the Official Rules explained in the ‘generations@school Competition Rules’ resource on this site. It is very easy to share your photos with us. We’ve provided some tips below to help you with the process.
Setting up an account To add your photos to our generations@school gallery, all you need to do is upload your photo/s onto Panoramio and join our generations@school group. To set up an account with Panoramio, go to http://www.panoramio.com/ Click Sign up in the top right hand corner and follow the instructions – it is a very quick and easy process.
TIP: Your user name Your user name should be the name of your school and the country you are in: Example – Greenfield School, England
Adding your photos Once you have an account, click Upload your photos and you’ll be able to choose photos from your computer to add to your area.
TIP: Format and size of photos The maximum size for your photos is 200 KB Use .jpeg, .bmp, .tif or .png files. Do not use .pdf and gif files as they will not upload

TIPS: Entering information to go with your photo Once your photo is uploaded, you can click on the boxes just to the right of the photo to add a title, a comment, a tag and place it on the map.
TITLE The title for your photo should be: School, project name, city/town, country, date Example: Greenfield School, project name, London, England, 24.03.12 ADD A DESCRIPTION In the ‘Add a description’ box, you can describe your photo. To help people understand what you have done and to help us choose an ‘outstanding school’ in each country, please add a few sentences about what happened in each photo and what your students and guests learned about different generations while doing the activity. Don’t forget to tell us about how you might use your prize if you are chosen as the outstanding school in your country. Hint: To see what you are writing in the comments box when it starts to ‘disappear’ press the down arrow key on your computer. TAGS: Tag your photo generations@school PUT YOUR PHOTO ON THE MAP One of the most exciting things about the Panoramio gallery is that you can put your school on the map! To do this, click Map this photo on the right hand side of the page. You will be asked to search for a location and once you’ve found your school, you can drag your photo from the left-hand column and put it in the correct place on the map. Make sure you click Done at the bottom of the left hand column to save your photo on the map.
Did you forget to add some information? Don’t worry, if you forgot to add a title or a comment, you can go to Your Photos, and click on the photo you want to add information to. To add or change the title, click on the title box above the photo and make your changes. To add a comment, write in the Comment box at the bottom of the page. If you have forgotten to add your photo to the map, you can click on Map this photo to the right of your photo. If you would like to add a tag, go into Your Photos. Go to Organize with tags in the right hand column. Either add a new tag in the Create tag box and click Apply or use a tag you already have and click Apply. Your photos which don’t already have that tag will turn white – click on the ones you want to tag and then click Done next to the tag in the Organize with tags section in the right hand column.

Joining our generations@school group to share your photos Once you’ve uploaded your photo/s and added the information you would like to share, the most important thing to do is to join the generations@school group. Click on Groups (at the top of page) and use the search box (at the bottom of the page) to find the generations@school group. Click on generations@school. Click on Join Group at the top of the generations@school page. You will be asked to click on one of your photos to add it to your request to join the group. Once you have done this, click on Send Application at the bottom of the page and we’ll be able to add you to the generations@school group. Once we have added you to our group, you will get an e-mail to tell you that you are a member of the group. You can now add your photos to the generations@school group.
Adding your photos to the generations@school group Sign into your Panoramio account. Either click on generations@school under Your groups or click on Groups on the tool bar at the top of the page and select generations@school from Your groups. Click Add photos at the right of Group photos. Select the photos you would like to add and click Add selected. Your photo/s will now appear as part of the group to be seen by all and you will get the chance to be named the outstanding generations@school project for your country! You can also see what other schools across Europe have been doing by scrolling through the photos in the group or clicking See on the map on the generations@school group page. Any problem? Getting permission to use your photos Don’t forget to get permission from the older and younger people in your group to upload your photos to the generations@school Panoramio group which will appear on the EY2012 website and related project websites. For children under 18, it is important to think about parental permission. Different schools have different ways of getting parental permission to share photos. We have included an example of a photo permission form below in case you want to use this one:
Authorisation for Use of Image In the context of the project generations@school, organised within the framework of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012, the school _________ (name of the educational establishment) will carry out a dialogue session between the pupils of ________ (educational level) and older persons. The project generations@schools which is managed by P.A.U. Education for the European Commission, uses the internet websites http://europa.eu/active-ageing-2012 and http://www.panoramio.com to diffuse the intergenerational activities of the educational establishments all over Europe that participate in the initiative. On these websites images might be published in which minors, individually or in group, appear participating in those activities mentioned above. The school __________ (name of the educational establishment) asks on behalf of the project generations@schools consent of parents or legal guardians to publish photos, both on mentioned websites as well as in publications related to the project and in the same school, in which your child/your children appear and in which she/he/they can be clearly identified.
