This week This week, the children have been looking at the features of houses. They were very well behaved on our walk around the local area. They looked at roof shapes, windows, house numbers. Some houses have solar panels and we talked about how we use electricity in our homes. The children felt it would be a good idea if the pigs contacted the police. So they made phone calls and visited the police station. The police wrote down what the pigs told them and they helped the police to make wanted posters, with lots of description so that others would recognise him. In mathematics they have continued to explore money. They have been making amounts up to 10p using 1p, 2p and 5p coins and playing shopping games.
Homework Complete the homework activities and return to school on Wednesday in the blue homework folder please.
Word Challenge. Keep learning all the words sent home so far. Look for them in books as well as reading them in isolation.
Reading. Please continue to hear your child regularly and record it each time in their blue book when you hear them read. It is essential that you keep their reading books in their book bags EVERY DAY so they can read their books in school. You will notice the children will be bringing home some lovely new reading books. Unfortunately we have already had some books which have been damaged, Please ensure your child looks after them and do not put water bottles in book bags.
Chat Maths; Have fun exploring the coins and sorting them by colour, shape, size and value. Can they make a simple picture of a man?
Next Week We will be meeting some other characters who lived in the wood near the Little Pigs. Where is that little girl going with a basket full of cakes? What has happened to Grandma? Can we be good role models for the bad Wolf and help him to follow the rules.

The focus this week was ‘Setting a Goal’. The children have been talking about things they enjoy and things they would like to get better at. We discussed when things are difficult we have to persevere. It is important for the children to realise that sometimes learning is challenging and that it is alright to make mistakes. We have to try hard in order to achieve the things we find difficult.
