April 24th 2018 Dear Students / Parents, Year 12 End of Year Exams I’m writing to inform you of the changes we have made to the assessment process for the year 12 students. Students were due to have their final assessments for this year at the end of May. As students are not sitting any external AS exams in year 12 we have decided to move the final assessments nearer to the end of the Summer term. This will enable us to achieve two things, firstly it will help ensure students are focussed and working to the end of the academic year and secondly it will also enable us to run the assessments as formal exams in the school sports hall or arena. Can I stress the importance of these exams to both parents and students. You are now half way through your A Level courses and these exams will give you the best indication of how you might currently perform in a full A Level exam. The results from these assessments will also be used as the basis for predicted grades on UCAS applications. To prepare: 1. Treat them as external exams - take them seriously 2. Revise, think what revision you did for your GCSEs - did it work? What can you do differently to improve your revision 3. Use revision guides 4. Identify the areas you need to work on (ask your teachers) and focus on them! The exams will take place during the week beginning June 25th. Lessons will not run during that week and students will only need to attend (in uniform) for their timetabled exams. Results and reports will be issued during the final week of term.

Yours sincerely Toby Barnard Assistant Principal
