5 September - Start of term Continue A2 level programmes started at the end of Year 12 What to expect: - Intense work from the very beginning - Homework given every lesson - Some students convince themselves that they are doing enough work, when they are not - Private study starts to slip and homework may not completed done well - A rough guide should be a minimum of 4 hours homework, 4 hours private study per A level subject per week th 15 September - Goal Setting Evening One nd 22 September - Goal Setting Evening Two UCAS applications can be submitted th October 6 October - Progress Point One th 15 October - Closing date for applications to Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science/Medicine Tests and practise exam questions will have revealed how well they are coping with A2 study, for some there may be problems Preparation for Trial Examinations November Some students have difficulty at this point as the pressures of trial examinations mount and they realise they have worked insufficiently and/or ineffectively st th 1 - 4 November - Trial Examinations For some students meetings with staff and parents may be arranged st December 1 December - Student Information Evening th 8 December - Progress Point Two Coursework/Controlled Assessment deadlines Some students have difficulty at this point as the pressures of coursework/controlled assessment/UCAS deadlines mount th 9 December - EWS closing date for submission of UCAS applications th January 15 January - Closing date for all UCAS applications except certain Art and Design courses th 26 January - (North and South) - Parents’ Evenings Time to start thinking about preparing for life after Sixth Form if not going to University - Training - Employment - Apprenticeships February Students should at this point be working at their optimum level Preparation for Spring Trial Examinations th 24 February - Start of Spring Trial Examinations rd March 3 March - End of Spring Trial Examinations Coursework/Controlled Assessment deadlines th 16 March - Progress Point 3 st 21 March - Learning Review/Progress Evening One rd 23 March - Learning Review/Progress Evening Two th 24 March - Deadline for receipt of applications for certain Art and Design courses April All coursework to be completed and submitted Revision activities May Revision activities External examinations start June/July External examinations end th August 17 August - A2 Level results day Please note more detailed and specific UCAS information will be given throughout the course of Year 13 to students who do choose to apply for University.
