• In addition to our preservation program, the state also has a maintenance-driven resurfacing program which covers approximately $70M annually.

Challenge Encountered • Change in Contracting Method ▫ Delivering preservation projects through vendor in place contract ▫ Developed contract documents with all treatments proposed ▫ Inspection and oversite through maintenance staff as opposed to construction staff ▫ Training held to help get everyone on board and up to speed ▫ More involvement from Pavement Unit staff from project selection to construction completion

• Lack of variety in preservation treatment types for 2017 is mainly due to challenges associated with changes to the contracting method. We anticipate the inclusion of additional, true preservation treatments for 2018 and future use.
