Peridot: Effie Yeaw On-Site
Lower elementary students are working on their fiction book reports and projects at home. After reading their books, students are expected to complete a book jacket including title, author, illustrator, main character(s), setting, summary, and opinion. Peridot students are learning how to write summaries in class during writing lessons. Next week they will learn how to develop an opinion piece. Book Reports and Projects due: Friday, October 28 Presentations: Monday, October 31 (costumes encouraged)
Curriculum Peridot students are doing an excellent job taking ownership of their work plans; they begin and complete jobs with few reminders and redirection, manage their materials, and monitor their behavior. They look forward to lessons and especially enjoy the Montessori math materials. They are very motivated and love to learn!
Field Trip - Raptors of the River 10/12
7 Habits @ Elk Grove, 6pm
10/14
Movie Night @ Bradshaw; doors open at 6:30pm
Students are also enjoying our afternoon cultural lessons. They have completed units on zoology (vertebrates/invertebrates), nutrition, and are currently studying the days of the week for their history unit. We encourage all of our students to take AR quizzes on books they read during SSR or for their weekly Reading Logs. If possible, please record the AR quiz number for your child to bring to school. It is very helpful and a real time-saver. Thank you!
