Pi Sigma Epsilon Constitution Delta Xi Chapter at the University of Tennessee at Martin

ARTICLE I NAME The name of the organization shall be called Pi Sigma Epsilon at the University of Tennessee at Martin. In the case of future incorporation, an appropriate additional title may be given for professional business purposes. However, some initialization for the national title must be respectfully kept within the name of the organization.

ARTICLE II PURPOSE The purpose of Pi Sigma Epsilon shall be: (a) to create a collegiate organization of students who are interested in the advancement of marketing, selling, and sales management as a career and a profession; (b) to promote the study of marketing, selling, sales management, and related fields in colleges and universities the establishment of courses preparing students for careers in professional marketing, selling, and sales management; (c)to stimulate improved methods and techniques in the field of marketing, professional selling and sales management; (d) to instill in its members and the profession the highest possible ethical standards, and to do all things necessary for the accomplishments of the primary objective stated above.

ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP SECTION 1.

COLLEGIATE MEMBERS: All regularly enrolled students must (a) maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00; (b) show leadership qualities through participation in college activities and other interests and activities that will help prepare them for careers in professional marketing and selling; (c) demonstrate character of the highest type, as evident by their relationship to their country and to their fellow citizen.

SECTION 2.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERS: Any person now in active work with at least 5 years of professional experience in marketing, selling, and/or sales management shall be eligible for consideration and possible election as a Professional Member.

SECTION 3.

EDUCATOR MEMBERS: Any educator directly or indirectly related to, or interested in, any phase of education that will contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge and concepts which will in turn better qualify students for careers in marketing, sales management, and selling, shall be eligible for membership.

SECTION 4.

ALUMNI MEMBERS. Alumni shall foster and encourage the work of the fraternity in the active chapter. Alumni at their discretion shall assist these chapters in their activities.

ARTICLE IV OFFICERS AND DUTIES Section 1.

Pi Sigma Epsilon shall elect the following officers: President, V.P. of Marketing, V.P. of Administration, Executive Secretary, V.P. of Finance, V.P. of Public Relations, V.P. of Human Resources, and V.P. of Professional Development.

SECTION 2.

The specific duties of the officers shall be:

1) President a) The President of the chapter captains the team by delegating responsibilities to the officers and seeing that these responsibilities are carried out. b) He/she calls and presides over all General Business Meetings and Executive Board Meetings and is the official chapter contact for PSE National Headquarters. c) The President ensures that each officer understands the Chapter Efficiency Index and uses it as a tool to effectively balance the chapter's programming. d) He/she oversees the development of the Chapter Annual Strategic Plan and is in charge of all necessary preparations for PSE Chapter Consultant visits. 2) Vice President of Human Resources a) The Vice President of Human Resources is directly responsible for all membership and recruiting activity. b) He/she should plan and maintain a year-round recruiting program, coordinate the Recruiting Campaign at the beginning of each semester and oversee the New Member Training Program. c) He/she should maintain accurate membership records and report changes at least twice per year to PSE National Headquarters. d) He/she should use the Chapter Efficiency Index as a tool to help coordinate activities, as an operational outline to measure effectiveness of chapter management, and as a method of communication with PSE National Headquarters. e) The Vice President of Human Resources assists the President in the performance of duties and, in the absence of the President, succeeds to his/her authority and duties. 3) Vice President of Marketing a) Though each project may have its own chairperson, the Vice President of Marketing must ensure the project is being carried out properly. b) He/she should use the Chapter Efficiency Index as a tool to help coordinate activities, as an operational outline to measure effectiveness of chapter management, and as a method of communication with PSE National Headquarters. c) He/she should be aware of any National Project opportunities available to the chapter.

4) Vice President of Finance a) The Vice President of Finance keeps accurate records of the chapter's income and expenditures. b) He/she is responsible for collecting all debts to the chapter, collection and payment of Annual National Dues, and assisting in the collection of Initiation Fees for New Members. c) The Vice President of Finance prepares the chapter budget and financial statements and communicates the information to each member. d) He/she remits National Dues (along with New Member Processing Sheets), Initiation Fees, National Sales and Marketing Convention registration fees, yearly budget and financial statements to National Headquarters. e) He/she should use the Chapter Efficiency Index as a tool to help coordinate activities, as an operational outline to measure effectiveness of chapter management, and as a method of communication with PSE National Headquarters. 5) Vice President of Administration a) The Vice President of Administration is directly responsible for all Chapter Efficiency Index responsibilities. b) This includes knowing when reports are due and making sure that they are turned in on time. c) He/she is responsible for keeping the chapter current on all CEI activity. d) He/she is also responsible for administrative functions (securing meeting rooms, developing a chapter calendar of events, holding elections, etc.). e) He/she should use the Chapter Efficiency Index as a tool to help coordinate activities, as an operational outline to measure effectiveness of chapter management, and as a method of communication with PSE National Headquarters. f) He/she oversees the work of the Recording and Corresponding Secretary. 6) Vice President of Public Relations a) The Vice President of Public Relations handles publicity for chapter activities and accomplishments of members. b) He/she works closely with the Executive Board, Directors and Project Chairs to promote projects and programs in an efficient and timely fashion. c) He/she writes and distributes news releases to college, community and hometown newspapers, radio stations and television stations. d) The Vice President of Public Relations may also be the editor of the chapter newsletter. e) He/she should work closely with the college of business and university's Public Relations Department to build the fraternity's image and credibility. f) He/she should use the Chapter Efficiency Index as a planning tool to coordinate activities, as an operational outline to measure effectiveness of chapter management, and as a method of communication with PSE National Headquarters.

7) Vice President of Professional Development a) The Vice President of Professional Development is responsible for coordinating all activities the chapter does with corporate sponsors or partners. b) He/She should work with other chapter officers to schedule speakers at chapter meetings or coordinate functions in which area professionals will work with the chapter. c) He/She should will also create and/or update the chapter’s corporate partnership package and will organize the sale of sponsorships. d) He/She will also be responsible for any grant writing the chapter undertakes to secure funding for projects or other activities.

ARTICLE V MEETINGS SECTION 1. SECTION 2.

Regular meetings shall be held weekly during the regular term of the University of Tennessee at Martin Special meetings may be called at any time by the President

SECTION 3.

Two-thirds of all the active members constitute a quorum. In the case of a tied decision, the President shall make all final decisions.

SECTION 4.

The president may reserve the right to call a re-evaluation of any voted decision.

SECTION 5.

On all questions of procedures, Robert’s Rules of Order shall be the guide except where conflicting with chapter by-laws.

ARTICLE VI DUES Section 1:

All members must pay National Dues by the posted date each year by National Headquarters.

SECTION 2:

All pledges must pay initiation fees within 10 days of bid acceptance

SECTION 3:

Chapter dues will be set by the V.P. of Finance with the approval of the Executive Council.

ARTICLE VII FACULTY SPONSORS SECTION 1:

A faculty sponsor shall be voted upon by the Executive Council.

ARTICLE VIII NONDISCRIMINATION SECTION 1.

Pi Sigma Epsilon shall not discriminate on the basis of sex, color, religion, national origin, age, handicap, or veteran status.

ARTICLE IX DISSOLUTION SECTION 1. treasury

In the event that this organization becomes inactive or defunct, all money in the will be returned to the National Headquarters of Pi Sigma Epsilon.

ARTICLE X TIME AND METHOD OF ELECTION SECTION 1.

All officers shall be elected two weeks before the end of the Fall Semester. The officers shall be elected by secret ballot. A simple majority will be required for regular election.

SECTION 2.

Officers may be appointed as deemed necessary by the Executive Council with the approval of the majority of the chapter.

ARTICLE XI VACANCY SECTION 1.

In the event of a vacancy in any of the officers, an election will be held within 14 days to select a replacement.
