We warmly invite you

to our fourth Partners in the Gospel conference entitled ‘The Drama of Redemption’, focusing this year on preaching from narrative texts. This event aims to mould and deepen our convictions about the centrality of biblical teaching, and to promote faithful, authoritative preaching in Scotland. The conference has grown over the last three years, and we look to continued blessing this year, as we welcome

Jonathan Lamb

as our keynote speaker. Jonathan travels round the world in his role as Director of Langham Preaching, training both new and experienced preachers, and establishing networks that encourage faithful, relevant and passionate biblical preaching. He will bring two keynote addresses that will help us uncover some of the riches we find in biblical stories.

Following the success of last year, we will continue to offer two preachers’ workshops. Edward Lobb, director of Cornhill Scotland, will be back to offer a workshop for beginners, while Jonathan will provide a more advanced workshop for established preachers, on the vital subject of how we can prepare the next generation of preachers. In addition, Ian Shaw will continue his very helpful series, drawing lessons from the lives of great preachers from the past who faced similar challenges to ourselves. This year he will be looking at Jonathan Edwards All this, together with an opportunity for Questions and Answers, the chance to share lunch and encourage each other in our preaching, as well as a preacher-specific bookstall, and we are sure that there will be much in this day to inspire and bless your ministry. As ever, we welcome all those who teach the Word in a wide variety of contexts, from Sunday pulpit to small group Bible studies, so don’t hesitate to sign up, and spread the word to ministry colleagues.

An evening with Jonathan Lamb

Just as we can benefit from the time together during the day at Deeside, so our fellowships can be helped by the evening programme at Gilcomston South Church. We’d like to extend an open invitation to as many in your church as possible to join us for the final part of the conference, when we spend an evening together with the Lord, listening to his word and praising his name. Jonathan Lamb will again open God’s Word to us, and we will have a great opportunity to deepen that fellowship in the gospel which we have come to enjoy in a range of settings in the North East of Scotland. Please invite others to join us as we listen to the Lord and respond to his glorious and lifeencompassing gospel.

SPEAKERS Jonathan Lamb is on the staff of Langham Partnership International. As international director of Langham Preaching, he works with national leaders to build local movements committed to Bible exposition and to provide training, resources and support for a new generation of preachers. Langham Preaching is currently collaborating with national initiatives in Uganda, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Central Europe, Argentina, the Caribbean and many other parts of the world. Edward Lobb is the Director of Cornhill Training Course, Scotland. Cornhill aims to train preachers to understand the Bible accurately, teach it effectively and apply it appropriately. Edward has been in full-time ministry since 1976 and has served a number of parishes, most recently St Peter’s Stapenhill at Burton-on-Trent.  Ian Shaw is Langham Scholars Director for the Langham Partnership. Prior to this, he was in pastoral ministry in an area of urban deprivation in Manchester, completed a Ph.D at Manchester University, and taught church history and the history of preaching at International Christian College, Glasgow.
