“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!” Welcome: Today, being preparatory Sunday, we want to begin our week of preparation by focusing on God’s requirement that we turn from all sin and dedicate our lives to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Next Sunday morning, we anticipate celebrating the Lord’s Supper together. Please join us after this morning’s service for refreshments and fellowship in our Fellowship Hall. Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the offering this morning for Children’s Church. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES Our final message from the short series ‘Shepherding 101’ concerns how we as God’s flock deal with the deceptive corruption of sin together. ‘Church discipline’ is a phrase that typically draws a negative reaction and conjures up sad memories and stories; however, Matthew 18:15-18 and 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 display that it is God’s way of “Protecting the Sheep and the Shepherd’s Name.” This evening, 1 Peter 3:1-7 is examined as one passage defining “The Roles of Marriage.” Those one truly great teams often say things like, ‘everyone knows their role.’ With the partnership of marriage, God gives each partner good roles that bring Him glory. PRAYERS AND PRAISES We grieve again alongside Jan and Ron Van Zee in the loss of Jan’s mother, Eleanor Lieuwen this past week here in Platte. Be praying for the Lieuwen family after losing their father such a short time ago, asking that the Father point their eyes to the Christian hope of glory.
