No. 15/17 Texas improves to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas drops to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns are off to a 3-0 start in Big 12 Conference play for the second consecutive year and just the fourth time in program history, joining the 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2015-16 teams. Texas now leads the all-time series with Kansas 23-10 and has won nine consecutive meetings in the all-time series. The win was Texas head coach Karen Aston’s 199th career victory. She is 199-113 (.638) in her 10th season as a collegiate head coach. Aston is 98-50 (.662) in her fifth season at the University of Texas and needs two more wins to reach 100 on the Forty Acres. Texas returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to TCU. Tip-off in the Frank Erwin Center is slated for 6 p.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network.

Texas used the starting lineup of Ariel Atkins, Joyner Holmes, Kelsey Lang, Brooke McCarty and Brianna Taylor for the eighth time this season and improves to 6-2 with the current starting five. The Longhorns out-rebounded the Jayhawks 61-35 and have won the rebound battle in 12 of their 13 games this season. Texas’ 61 rebounds were the seventh-most in a single game in school history. Three Texas players (Ariel Atkins, Joyner Holmes, Brooke McCarty) scored in double figures. It marked the 10th time in 13 games this season that the Longhorns have placed three or more players in double-figure scoring. The Longhorns committed a season-high 31 turnovers in the game.

INDIVIDUAL GAME NOTES • •

Junior guard Brooke McCarty scored in double figures for the 10th time in her 13 games this season with a team-high 15 points. She also brought down a season-high six rebounds. Freshman guard/forward Joyner Holmes was one rebound shy of her third career double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. She also tied her career high with three blocks.
