No. 14/15 Texas improves to 25-8 on the season, while No. 17/17 N.C. State ends its season at 23-9. Texas improves to 6-1 in the all-time series against N.C. State, including a 4-0 tally when the game is played in Austin. It was the first meeting between the two teams since November 23, 2003. The Longhorns are 21-13 (.618) all-time against opponents in the current alignment of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Texas improves to 40-28 (.588) all-time in NCAA Tournament play, including an 8-3 (.727) mark under head coach Karen Aston. The Longhorns are 6-4 all-time when playing as a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Texas has reached 25 wins for the second consecutive season. The Longhorns advanced to their 14th all-time NCAA Sweet 16 and their third consecutive. Texas improved to 7-6 (.538) against Associated Press Top-25 teams this season. Third-seeded Texas will face the winner between second-seeded Stanford and seventh-seeded Kansas State on Friday in the NCAA Sweet 16 at Lexington, Ky. Stanford and Kansas State meet on Monday in the NCAA Second Round at Manhattan, Kan.

Texas used the starting lineup of Ariel Atkins, Joyner Holmes, Kelsey Lang, Brooke McCarty and Brianna Taylor for the 27th time this season and improves to 21-6 with the current starting five. The Longhorns won the rebound battle for the 30th time in 33 games this season, out-rebounding the Wolfpack, 41-28. Texas had eight blocks in the game, increasing its season blocks total to 192. That marks the second-most blocks in a single-season in program history. The Longhorns need eight more blocks to break the school record (199) for blocks in a single season.

Junior point guard Brooke McCarty scored a team-high 23 points to lead the way for the Longhorns. McCarty has scored in double figures on 28 occasions this season. o McCarty scored 20 or more points for the fourth time this season. o McCarty finished with three three-pointers in the game, increasing her career three-pointers made total to 181. That moved her into sixth place on the school’s all-time career three-pointers made list. o McCarty has led Texas in scoring on a team-best 18 occasions this season. Senior center Kelsey Lang totaled six points, seven rebounds and tied her career high with six blocks. o Lang increased her career blocks total to 186, which moved her into sixth place on UT’s all-time career blocked shots list. o Lang played in her 137th career game at Texas, which ranks fifth all-time at UT in career games played. Freshman guard/forward Joyner Holmes finished with 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds in 27 minutes of play. Freshman guard Alecia Sutton tied her career high with 10 points and also dished out three assists in 20 minutes of play.
