Week:
10 Coaching Points
Coach: Should the players on the outside stay active and move around, or stand still? Player: Move around and stay active to support your teammates. Coach: What part of the foot should you use when passing the ball? Player: inside the foot or laces when facing your partner. Coach: What foot should you aim for when passing to your partner? Player: Their back foot or uphill foot. When you play their back foot/ uphill foot-this allows the other player open up.
C-Where should you aim when shooting? P-Low, lean over ball & strike through ball. C-Why should you continue to run towards (crash) goal during/after a shot? P- To finish a ball that didn't make it into goal & put pressure on defenders if they intercept. Encourage the team of 7 to keep possession & lure the team of 4 further away from the 3 targets. By luring the team of 4 away from their targets, team of 7 should look to play & make runs behind the 4 or go straight to Targets when lanes open up. -Encourage the teams to keep possession & lure the other team away from their goal. -In order to keep possession there must be constant movement from the attacking players. -All players need to communicate with each other: man on, turn, take your space, etc. -Make sure players follow up any shots taken just in case the keeper bobbles or drops the ball.
Go over restarts, and team shape. Be careful of coaching(speaking) too much. Try to only coach in natural stoppages(when the ball is out of bounds, after a goal, etc).
