Activity Description

U15-U19 Diagram

Gate Problems-20(width)x20(length) yard grid. Divide players into pairs & set up gates (at least 1 more gate than groups). Groups score by passing through the gates. First pair to 10 points wins. Activity 1 Coach changes the way the pairs score each round: 1) Pass with certain surface 2) Complete 2 passes in 1 gate 3) Find a new partner every time you score a point

4v4 to Small Goals-20width)x30(length) yard grid. Each team has a small goal to defend and a small goal to attack. Players score by passing, and or shooting the ball in the goal.

Coaching Points Coach- When would the player with the ball pass to his partner? Player- When his/her partner is in the position or moving into position on the opposite side of gate. C-Why would players want to face a little bit sideways when passing the ball? P-To use the outside of the foot closest to the gate.

Play 3 minute games, coaching points during break.

C-What is a visual cue for when you should try to dribble forward quickly? P-When i have time & space, or only 1 defender with space behind him/her. C-Why would you choose to dribble instead of pass? P-To lure defenders closer to you, to create space for your teammates, then pass.

4v4 to 4 Goals- 30 (width)x40(length) yard grid. Each team has 2 goals to defend & 2 goals to attack. Players score by shooting or dribbling through opponents 2 goals. Activity 3 Scoring: Score goal fro attacking half = 1point. Score goal from defensive half = 5 points. Play 2 rounds, 8-10 minutes each. Coaching points during halftime, or when ball goes out of bounds.

C-Where should you aim when shooting? P-Low, lean over ball & strike through ball. C-Why should you continue to run towards (crash) goal during/after a shot? P- To finish a ball that didn't make it into goal & put pressure on defenders if they intercept.

-Encourage the teams to keep possession & lure the other team away from their goal. -In order to keep possession there must be constant movement from the attacking players. -All players need to communicate with each other: man on, turn, take your space, etc. -Make sure players follow up any shots taken just in case the keeper bobbles or drops the ball.

Activity 2

Progression: -Teams must connect 5 passes before scoring on goal.

7v7 to Goal-40(wide)x60(long) or half field. 7 Players (6 field players & 1 GK) vs. 7 players (6 field players & 1 GK) attack and defend 1 goal. Rotate players after the 5-7 minutes are up. Activity 4

Play 4 rounds of 5-7 minutes each.

Play 9v9 or 11v 7

Go over restarts, and team shape. Be careful of coaching(speaking) too much. Try to only coach in natural stoppages(when the ball is out of bounds, after a goal, etc).
