Jansz Tasmania Vintage Cuvée 2007 The Vintage • 2007
The Winemaker • Natalie Fryar
The Conditions • Tasmania’s most severe spring frost for 30 years • Jansz’s maritime proximity meant the vineyard was spared from frost but crop yields were low • Dry, cool yet sunny summer and autumn meant the fruit, was packed with intense flavour
The Viticulture & Winemaking • Every block in the Jansz vineyard was harvested separately and kept in individual batches • Gentle handling, barrel fermentation, complex blending and four years in the bottle ageing on lees has resulted in vibrant, yeasty complexity in the final wine
The Wine • Displays a pale straw colour and fine mousse • The nose is greeted with gorgeous yeast ageing along with toast, brioche and cream • The tongue, with quince, honeysuckle and classic notes of ripe lemon. Expect a hint of strawberry and rosewater from the Pinot Noir too • Intense palate leaves you with a deep, creamy finish
