On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, neighborhoods throughout Manhattan Beach are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “34th Annual National Night Out.” National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. National Night Out will involve over 16,500 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. Over 38.5 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime”. The Manhattan Beach Police Department and the Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Watch Program are inviting residents to turn on their porch lights and host a neighborhood event such as cookouts, ice cream socials, potlucks, flashlight walks, youth activities or any other fun idea to get neighbors outside for a night out against crime. Call the Neighborhood Watch Program at (310) 802-5183 to register your block party to have Police Officers visit your event (time and circumstances permitting). Registration is free – register now and begin planning your event!
