Jump Rope and Football for Heart Students in 1st-4th grade should have received information about our annual Jump Rope for Heart event that will be held on February 19th. Jump Rope for heart is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association’s fight against heart disease and strokes. Students will receive different puppies and other great thank you gifts based upon the amount they raise. Students can earn more puppies by raising money online. If you have any questions contact Mr. Uhler or Mrs. Scimeca. 5th and 6th grade will be participating in a newer program called Football for Heart this year. This program that the American Heart Association teams up with the Chicago Bears allows children to raise money for the AHA and earn some different football/Chicago Bear thank you gifts. For every $1,000 our school raises we have a better chance to have a Bears player come to our school for an assembly. Students in 5th and 6th grade will be tracking their fitness activities to see how well they do at meeting their goal of 60 mins of exercise every day!

5th graders determining what makes something a work of art. WORDS OF WISDOM Happy Friday, Panthers and Parents! The theme for the month of January is “Stumbling Blocks or Stepping Stones?” This week we focused on dealing with anger and believing in yourself. Everyone gets angry at times - the trick is knowing how to deal with that anger. Don't lose control if you get angry. Taking it out on others never solves anything. Instead, admit to yourself that you are angry and try to figure out why. What can you do to keep the situation from happening again? It helps to talk about your anger with an adult, such as a parent, teacher, or relative. Once you talk about anger, those bad feelings usually start to go away. It is also important to believe in yourself. This goes for both in and out of school. Former University of Alabama football coach said it best; “If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.” Have a wonderful weekend, and remember to come to school on Monday prepared to Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Ready for class! With something to think about, this is Ms. Martini. Make it a great weekend – or not. The choice is yours!
