Danny Kaspar, Texas State
Coach Kaspar, head basketball coach at Texas State University, will serve as camp director. Kaspar is the 25th winningest active Division I coach in his 26th season as a head coach. He earned his 500th career win at home against Troy on March 3, 2016. He also ranks in the top 90 of career victories among head coaches with at least 10 years of Division I experience. During his time leading the Bobcats, Kaspar has led the team to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals in 2015 and 2016. Kaspar served as head coach at Stephen F. Austin from 2000-13, where he amassed a 246-141 record. His 2008, 2009 and 2013 Lumberjack teams won the Southland Conference regular season conference titles. The 2008 and 2013 squads went to the National Invitational Tournament while his 2009 team participated in the NCAA Tournament. Kaspar was named the Southland Conference Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2013. He was selected as the Texas Division I Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2013 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. In 2013, he received the National Association of Basketball Coaches District 23 Coach of the Year and the CollegeInsider.com National Mid-Major Coach of the Year award. From 1991-2000, Kaspar was the Head Basketball Coach/ Assistant Director of Athletics at the University of the Incarnate Word. During his tenure, Kaspar compiled a 219-52 record, which was the best of any four-year university in Texas during the 1991-2000 time frame. He was selected NAIA National Coach of the Year by Basketball Weekly Magazine in 1999 and Heart of Texas Conference Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999. In his 39 years of coaching, Kaspar has directed 94 basketball camps.

CAMP OPTIONS Day Camp 8:30 AM·4:30 PM: Lunch provided every day of camp. This option is available for both camp sessions. For the June 25-28 camp, lunch will be provided on Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27. For the August 1-4 camp, lunch will be provided every day of camp.
Non-Resident Camp 8:30 AM-9:00 PM: Available only for June 25-28 camp. Lunch and dinner provided Monday and Tuesday of camp. For boys entering grades 4-12. Resident Camp Overnight campers. Available only for June 25-28 camp. All meals provided beginning with breakfast on June 26, and ending with breakfast on June 28. For boys entering grades 5-12. Morning Camp Available for both camps. No meals provided. Camp runs from 8:30-11:30 AM. Available for boys entering grades 2-9. Enrollment for the morning camp is limited. Afternoon Camp Available for August 1-4 camp only. No meals provided. Camp runs from 1:30-4:30 PM. Available for boys entering grades 2-9. Enrollment for the afternoon camp is limited.

Important Information The Danny Kaspar Basketball Camp will stress fundamentals with a heavy emphasis on the skills of shooting, dribbling, passing, individual moves, and movement without the ball. We will adhere to a 10-1 camper-coach ratio which provides for a safe and well-supervised learning environment that will allow for more coach-camper interaction. Our 2.5-1 camper-ball ratio will allow for more hands-on opportunities for each camper to learn the fundamentals of basketball. Our daily schedule includes a good mix of drills, contests, team practice, and games, which allows for a fun-filled learning experience. During team play, movement without the ball, team offense, and team defense will be emphasized. Knowledgeable and personable coaches will be hired to work with the camp participants. PAYMENT: A $75 deposit is required to ensure enrollment. Full payment is accepted and encouraged to speed up your registration process. For the June 25-28 camp, resident campers must submit a $75 dorm/key deposit. This amount must be paid separately with cash or check made payable to Danny Kaspar. This deposit will be refunded the week after camp if you turn your key in and no dorm room charges are assessed to you. CANCELLATIONS: There will be a $35 processing fee for cancellations before the late fee deadlines. All cancellation fees after the late fee deadline will result in forfeiture of the full $75 deposit. No refunds will be given after camp has begun.

MEALS: For the June 25-28 camp, resident campers receive all meals beginning with breakfast on Monday, June 26 and ending with breakfast on June 28. Non-resident campers will receive lunch and dinner on Monday and Tuesday. Day campers will receive lunch Monday and Tuesday. For the August 1-4 camp, day campers will receive lunch Tuesday through Friday. Morning and afternoon campers will receive no meals.
Late fee of $20 for all applications postmarked after July 17, 2017, but before July 24, 2017. $35 late fee for all applications postmarked or received after July 24.
CLOTHING: All campers should be appropriately dressed for basketball activities. Basketball shoes must be worn during basketball activities. Jogging, hiking, or dress shoes are not acceptable. SIBLINGS: Siblings may be assigned to separate facilities during the daily camp schedule. MEDICAL: There will be an athletic trainer on camp staff. The campus health center is available to all campers. CAMP FACILITIES: Strahan Coliseum on the campus of Texas State University will serve as the headquarters for The Danny Kaspar Basketball Camp. Strahan Coliseum has two full-court regulation gyms located inside its facilities. This will be the main facility for camp. Additional gyms will be added if needed. SERVICES AND SPECIAL RULES: All campers receive secondary medical insurance through the camp. Boys are not allowed to leave campus unless they are with a supervised camp group. Registration Information PRE-REGISTRATION- To pre-register, complete the attached application and medical release form. Check/money order for deposit or full payment should be made payable to the Danny Kaspar Basketball Camp. For the June 25-28 camp, please mail your application by at least June 12, 2017. For the August 1-4 day camp, please mail your application by July 18, 2017. If this is not possible, then contact us at (512) 245-3832 from 8:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Monday-Friday or anytime at (830) 609-9312 CAMP CHECK-IN/REGISTRATION - Camp check-in for the June 25-28 camp will be on the Texas State campus on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at a yet to be decided dormitory. Camp check-in and final registration for the August 1-4 day camp will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum. A camper’s parent or guardian should come to check-in to correct any discrepancies in camp fees, receive their camp-t-shirt (if preregistered), set-up their camp bank account, and receive answers to any questions concerning the camp. If this is not possible, please call us at (512) 2452987 before 5 p.m. or at (830) 609-9312 after 5 p.m. SPECIAL INFORMATION - Parents should not drop off campers on the first day of camp without going through the check-in process. June 25-28th camp - ALL CAMPERS will participate in camp activities on Sunday evening, June 25 from 6:00-9:00 p.m., no matter the time they are registered to participate. August 1-4th camp - Camp will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1 for morning and day campers and at 1:30 p.m. for afternoon campers. The June 25-28 camp will end on Wednesday, June 28 at approximately 12 p.m. with the conclusion of our awards ceremony. The August 1-4 camp will end on Friday, August 4 at approximately 4:30 p.m. with the conclusion of our awards ceremony.
