Profile of World Water Forum 8’s main spokespersons Benedito Braga Chair of the World Council of Water (WWC) Benedito Braga is the president of the World Council of Water (WWC), Secretary of Sanitation and Water Resources of the State of São Paulo and Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor at the University of São Paulo's Polytechnic School (USP), temporarily removed from his tenure to exercise the office of Secretary of State. Braga is a Ph. D in water resources management from Stanford University, United States. Invited by São Paulo's governor, Geraldo Alckmin, has assumed the Secretariat of Sanitation and Water Resources management, achieving the goal to bring water security to the state again. Ricardo Medeiros de Andrade Executive director of the 8th World Water Forum Executive director of the 8th World Water Forum and Director of the National Water Agency, Ricardo Medeiros de Andrade is a civil engineer graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Andrade is the superintendent of Implementation of Programs and Projects of the National Water Agency (ANA), and is currently coordinating the Project of Integrated Management and Sustainable Use of Transboundary Water Resources in the Amazon River Basin (GEF Amazonas), in the framework of the ACTO/UNEP. Paulo Salles Co-‐chair of the Organizing Committee of the 8th World Water Forum Co-‐chair of the Organizing Committee of the 8th World Water Forum, Paulo Sergio Bretas de Almeida Salles is the president of the Regulatory Agency for Water, Energy and Basic Sanitation of the Federal District (Adasa). He completed a post-‐doctorate trainee program at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. He is graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasilia and has a Master in Ecology from the University of Brasilia as well as a Phd in Ecology from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Retired as associate professor of the University of Brasilia, he has experience in the area of ecology, with emphasis in theoretical ecology, working in undergraduate and post-‐graduate courses in ecology and science education. His research papers mainly address the modeling of ecological-‐based artificial intelligence (qualitative reasoning), with applications to issues of sustainable development, water resources management and scientific education, especially in Science education and Biology. Salles was State secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of the Federal District (SECTI), director-‐president of the Foundation for Research Support of the Federal District (FAPDF), and director-‐secretary of the Foundation for Science and Technology Enterprises (FINATEC). He worked in the management of water resources, and was the vice-‐president, and later president of the Committee of the Hydrographic Basin of the Paranaíba River and chairman of the Committee of the Hydrographic Basin of the Rio Paranoá (DF). Executive president of the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries (Abdib) and member of the National Organizing Committee of the 8th World Water Forum. Venilton Tadini is the executive president of the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries (Abdib) and member of the National Organizing Committee of the 8th World Water Forum. He has a degree in Economics and a master's in Economic Theory from the University of São Paulo (USP) and started his professional career in Abdib, in the 80s, when he headed the Economics Department of this organization for six years. Tadini has been the executive president of Abdib since January of 2016. He was also director in the Secretariat of the National Treasury, director of Planning of Abdib, director of Infrastructure and Planning at the National Development Bank (BNDES) and the director of the Development Company of Sao Paulo (CPD), when he moved to the bank Factor, an organization in which he worked for 20 years, the last four of which as president. Rodrigo Cordeiro Director of Operations of the 8th World Water Forum Rodrigo Cordeiro is the director of operations of the 8th World Water Forum. He is also the director of the MCI-‐Brazil congress and the president of the Brazilian Chapter of MPI – Meeting Professional International. Graduated in Business Administration from PUC-SP and postgraduated in Administration and Organization of Events from SENAC-SP. He began his career in 1996 in the Acqua Consultoria, a company specialized in congresses and trade shows related to the infrastructure and the environment sector, and which belonged to his father until 2006. Rodrigo took over the company since then and has significantly grown the company until 2014, when Acqua Consulting was acquired by MCI-Group. He obtained a certification from the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) in 2012 and from the Brazilian Association of Companies of Events (ABEOC ) in 2014. Jorge Werneck Vice-‐president of the Thematic Process Commission of the 8th World Water Forum Vice-‐president of the Commission of the 8th World Water Forum and director of the Regulatory Agency for Water, Energy and Basic Sanitation of the Federal District (Adasa), as well as a member of the International Steering Committee (ISC). Jorge Enoch Furquim Werneck Lima is an agricultural engineer graduated from the Federal University of Viçosa (MG), has a master's degree in Irrigation and Agroenvironments from the Agriculture Department of the University of Brasilia and a Phd in Environmental Technology and Water Resources from the University of Brasilia. Werneck is a Researcher in Hydrology for Embrapa Cerrados, consultant to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO/WMO), Chairman of the Paranoá Basin Committee and was vice president director of Technical Coordination of the Brazilian Association of Water Resources (ABRH). Glauco Kimura de Freitas is a biologist and master in Ecology from the University of São Paulo (USP). He is an specialist in planning and management of protected areas graduated from the Colorado State University and in watershed management UNESCO-‐IHE, in the Netherlands. He worked for seven years in the WWF-‐Brazil as a specialist in fresh water and as the coordinator of the fresh water program. Previously, he worked for eight years with The Nature Conservancy. He has more than 20 years working for biodiversity conservation, with experience in conservation of protected areas and management, management of exotic species, protection of freshwater ecosystems and management of environmental projects. In 2006, he won the Prize of the World Meteorological Organization for Young Scientists as co-‐author of the article "Looking for Ecological Hydrography".
José Bento Member of the Organizing Committee of the 8th World Water Forum Jose Bento da Rocha is a member of the Organizing Committee of the 8th World Water Forum. In the Regulatory Agency for Water, Energy and Basic Sanitation of the Federal District (Adasa) he is Regulator of Public Services. For two years he was the coordinator of the Water Producer Program in Pipiripau, an initiative that from five years has been supporting, guiding and compensating local farmers for the provision of environmental services, and he is currently the executor of contracts in this program. Joseph Benedict was an officer of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), where he reached the rank of sergeant. Rogerio Menescal Coordinator of the Executive Committee for the Organization of the 8th World Water Forum Coordinator of the Executive Committee for the Organization of the 8th World Water Forum. Rogério de Abreu Menescal is a specialist in Water Resources of the National Agency of Water (ANA), from 2016. He has a Phd in Water Resources from the Federal University of Ceará and a Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Brasilia. Graduated in civil engineer from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), he has a specialization in Water Resources from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Menescal has more than 20 years of experience in the direction, management, planning, institutional, and implementation of new projects both in the public and private sectors.
