Turf and Landscape Pest Management Update (3 Hours)

10:15 – 11:15 AM Oak Wilt: A Growing Threat To Trees In New York

Topics and Speakers:

Recently, oak wilt has been found to be killing trees in several parts of New York State. The site of first detection in New York was in Schenectady County. This fungal pathogen, also known as Ceratocystis fagacearum, can kill a healthy tree in as little as three weeks. Karen Snover-Clift, Director of Cornell’s Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic within the Department of Plant Pathology, will tell us about this menace, explain the steps agencies are taking to stop the spread, and warn us about what to look for here in the Capital District.

9:00 – 10:00 AM Keep Ticks Away!
