MDRT FOUNDATION DONATION MADE TO ERIE NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE CHICAGO, IL, JUNE 28, 2017 – Paul Gassel, Managing Partner of WWM Investments, was pleased to represent The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation and awarded a $2,000 grant to Erie Neighborhood House in support of the agency’s READS literacy intervention program in the Little Village community. The MDRT Foundation is committed to building stronger families and communities through its global grants programs. Erie Neighborhood House is one of more than 200 charitable organizations that the MDRT Foundation will award more than $1 million this year. Gassel is a member of MDRT and a member of Erie House board of directors. “Being raised by an immigrant family myself, I am very passionate about this cause and understand the importance of supporting children in the area” said Gassel. “I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see these two great organizations working together for a common cause.” Students are referred to the READS program because they are reading far below grade level and additional intervention is deemed necessary. Last year 96% of students in the READS program improved their reading skills by an entire grade level. The after-school program operates Monday through Thursday, pairing students with volunteer tutors to work on a variety of activities to support literacy growth. It also operates during the summer months to aid with retention and provide a safe, engaging environment for neighborhood kids.
