BIDDEFORD SCHOOL DEPARTMENT TITLE: (.5) K-5 Personalized Learning and Instructional Support Leader
PURPOSE: 1 . The Leader will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and the transition to studentcentered, standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment. 2. The Leader will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-base effective instruction. 3. In order to meet this purpose, the Leader will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification (020). 2. Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college/university. 3. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience. 4. Experience in researched-based instructional practices. 5. Proficiency with assessment software (currently, Jumprope). 6. Desire to continue career improvement. 7. Demonstrated leadership and innovation in the transition to student-centered, standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment. REPORTS TO:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Support the philosophy and vision of the Biddeford School Department. 2. Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of teachers. 3. Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators. 4. Communicate and demonstrate researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance. 5. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community. 6. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. 7. Support the value of an education. 8. Assume a leadership role in developing and advising on decisions related to K-5 curriculum. 9. Participation in 1-5 days of district-sponsored professional development. 10. Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions. 11. Demonstrate knowledge of researched-based instructional strategies that engage all students. 12. Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed. 13. Demonstrate knowledge using a variety of assessment tools. 14. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter. 15. Provide support in analyzing student assessment data. 16. Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data. 17. Assist teachers with specific classroom activities when requested. 18. Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies. 19. Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues. 20. Model lessons when appropriate. 21. Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers. 22. Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers. 23. Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning. 24. Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals. 25. Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction and assessments. 26. Other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Leader. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the School Committee’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel. NATURE OF POSITION: This position, new for the 2017-18 school year, will be half time. That is, a successful candidate will teach half time, and beginning on or about October 1, relinquish half of his/her teaching role to another instructor, as assigned by the Superintendent and/or principal.
