AQS APPRAISALS – Kathy Kansier Sunday, June 3, 12:30-3:30 $45 per quilt Kathy is a Certified Appraiser with the American Quilters Society. Each typed appraisal includes a description and history of the quilt, photos, and appraisal value. An appraisal is proof of a quilt’s value for your insurance company, and makes a nice addition to a quilt you are giving as a gift. Each appointment takes 30 minutes, and you will schedule a separate appointment for each quilt you are having appraised.
PIECED APPLIQUE – Pat Capps Saturday, April 21, 12:30-3:30 $18 Combining piecing with layered appliqués makes it possible to sew perfect points and curves…by eliminating them! This technique uses freezer paper templates and is great for hand or machine appliqué. Supply list. Book required.

Have you ever read the book, The Road Less Traveled by Scott Peck? One of the first recollections about that book is his line: Life is hard. How does that relate to sewing machines? The best way I can put it is: Mechanical things are going to fail. The sooner you embrace that, better you will be. We sell great brands of sewing machines and an unbelievable amount of time and money is put into engineering these to be the best, most reliable machines they can be. With that said sometimes they are going to need some work, whether it is to address a problem or routine maintenance. We embrace this part of our business and that is why we have two full-time mechanics. Experience is important when it comes to the repair business. We see a lot of machine problems, and that is good for you and for us. If you required a surgical procedure I am certain you would want a surgeon who had conducted many operations. We have done over 8,000 machine repairs. A friend of mine, CJ Tinkle, often gets asked where to buy a sewing machine and her standard response is: buy based on the quality of the service department. We will use a photo of a rose that I took at the Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, MO for our workshop project. At the workshop, we will give you the information you need to be able to print your photos onto photo ready fabric, you will be able to experience piecing a photo transfer together, and experiment with thread painting and quilting to emphasize your photo. Have you ever read the book, The Road Less Traveled by Scott Peck? One of the first recollections about that book is his line: Life is hard. How does that relate to sewing machines? The best way I can put it is: Mechanical things are going to fail. The sooner you embrace that, better you will be. We sell great brands of sewing machines and an unbelievable amount of time and money is put into engineering these to be the best, most reliable machines they can be. With that said sometimes they are going to need some work, whether it is to address a problem or routine maintenance. We embrace this part of our business and that is why we have two full-time mechanics. Experience is important when it comes to the repair business. We see a lot of machine problems, and that is good for you and for us. If you required a surgical procedure I am certain you would want a surgeon who had conducted many operations. We have done over 8,000 machine repairs. A friend of mine, CJ Tinkle, often gets asked where to buy a sewing machine and her standard response is: buy based on the quality of the service department. We will use a photo of a rose that I took at the Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, MO for our workshop project. At the workshop, we will give you the information you need to be able to print your photos onto photo ready fabric, you will be able to experience piecing a photo transfer together, and experiment with thread painting and quilting to emphasize your photo. And on top of that you get to eat lunch with Linda! The cost of the workshop covers the kit, and teacher fees.
