[email protected] Summer time…and the quilting is easy. Classes are plentiful, and the excitement is high. There is something offered for everyone. A new addition for our shop is a beginning three-day sewing class for children, ages 9 and up. To add a little spice to life there also will be classes on fabric bead making, art quilting, doll making and painting on fusible web just to name a few. There will also be many project classes: a weekender bag, a purse insert, dress form mannequin pincushion, pillowcases, pennant making, baby items, hand embroidery and Sashiko. And we haven’t even mentioned all the quilting classes offered. Dinner in the Garden is always a fun get together and a sell-out, so be sure to call the first of each month to register. Another fun “get together and sew” is the “Stay-cation Retreat” that starts on a Friday night and ends on Sunday afternoon. The best part (besides the sewing) is that you save gas money and get to sleep in your own cozy bed. Oh yes, we have our quilting classes such as Double Mitered Binding, Disappearing Nine Patch, the Trunk Show of the Story of the Nine Patch, Twister Technique, Kites and Spiderwebs, Foundations of Quilting, Finishing School, Charm School, Table Runners, Stash Reduction and Needle-turn Applique. We have many clubs where new friendships are made – Beginner’s Club, Jo’s Little Women, Twister, Wool, Paper Piecing, Knot-y Ladies Embroidery, Tea Towel and Red Work, We Gather Together (primitive applique) 30’s and the community service group, Quilts of Honor. Fabric Garden is “the” place for your summer fun and enjoyment. Join us!

The light print used to frame the 5-inch blocks is also used for the sashing, giving the blocks a delicate floating effect. Half-square triangles are featured in the individual block borders that bring the forty-one 5-inch blocks to 7 1/2" finished. Half-square triangles also make up the outer quilt border, a special finishing detail that gives the quilt a beautiful, heirloom quality.
