The NLI must include the NCAA ID which becomes available after registering with the NCAA Eligibil-

 

In which a signee does not enroll at a two-year or four-year institution for at least one academic year and the scholarship is no longer available. This aspect also applies to a signee who serves in the U.S. Armed Forces or a Church Mission for one year. NLI remains binding if the scholarship, in it’s unchanged amount, is available. If the sport is discontinued. This includes student-athletes who are already enrolled. Recruiting rules violation

The NLI can be declared null and void if the violation is substantiated and prompts the need for reinstatement by the NCAA staff. It is the prospective student-athlete’s choice to null and void under these circumstances.

Florida Gators Quarterback Will Grier Suspended After Failing

Former Louisville Men’s Basketball Players Say They Attended

PED Test

Parties with Strippers Paid by Graduate Assistant

The University of Florida starting quarterback Will Grier has been suspended for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. This NCAA suspension will prohibit Grier from competing for one calendar year, meaning the star signal caller will not be eligible to return until the seventh game of Florida’s 2016 season. Grier tearfully explained that this positive test was a result of taking “an over-the-counter supplement that had something in it” while also stating that he did not check with the university medical staff before using said substance. Grier admitted responsibility for the ordeal and has apologized profusely for the situation. Although this is certainly a blow to the Gators there are some aspects to this story which make it somewhat less devastating to the program. First is that Florida is planning on appealing the ruling, hoping to allow Grier to be eligible at the beginning of the 2016 season. The second, is that Grier is only a redshirt-freshman so he will be able to compete at some point as a redshirt-sophomore and have 2-3 more years of eligibility.

According to a report conducted by ESPN’s Outside the Lines, multiple former University of Louisville basketball players and recruits attended parties at a campus dorm which included strippers. Allegedly, Andre McGee, a former graduate assistant coach at the school was the person who contacted and paid the dancers. In the book “Breaking Cardinal Rules” Katina Powell, a former escort, gives details on “nearly two dozen stripping and sex parties from 2010 to 2014 inside Billy Minardi Hall”. Additionally, Powell stated that McGee “arranged the parties and paid her $10,000 for supplying dancers during the time period” and would include offer cash for “side deals” which included sex with recruits, guardians and players. Louisville Head Basketball Coach Rick Pitino has stated that he had no knowledge of these parties and has placed the onus on McGee for the situation. However, according to Powell, when asking McGee if Pitino knew about the parties he allegedly said “He's Rick. He knows about everything”. This is certainly a messy situation for Louisville, but we will have to wait to see the full repercussions.

Staff Spotlight Donna Kirk is the Senior Associate AD of Compliance & Academic Services/SWA at UNF. She is a graduate of both Florida State University (B.S. in Communications) and of Georgia Southern University (M.S. in Sport Management.) Donna’s career started with an internship in the ticket office of the Jacksonville Jaguars during their inaugural season before she transitioned to the collegiate level at Jacksonville University as the Ticket Manager. After a few years, Donna began to explore other areas of collegiate athletics and became interested in Compliance. During a transitional period at JU an opportunity arose in the Compliance Department and Donna was selected for the position. Over the course of the next thirteen years at JU, Donna was promoted from Director of Compliance to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, then Associate AD for Compliance. In the summer of 2013, Donna left JU when UNF Athletic Director Lee Moon called and offered Donna her current position. Although it was difficult to leave JU after so many years, she felt the opportunity to serve in this leadership role and the chance to grow in athletics administration were too good to pass up. Donna’s favorite part of the job is the end of the year studentathlete awards banquet, where both academic and athletic achievement is recognized and celebrated. Outside of work, Donna enjoys dancing and says that her specialty is the country two-step, but she also enjoys east coast and west coast swing and occasionally mixes in some Latin dancing as well. She says she enjoys dancing because it is a fun form of exercise and that many times “you don’t even realize you’re exercising!” Donna even stated that for fun one night she wore a pedometer and was shocked to see she had danced a whole five miles. Donna has been married to her husband Chuck for 21 years and they have two daughters, Emily (20) and April (17). Chuck is a corrections officer by night and a scratch golfer by day. He’s been the boys golf coach at St. Johns Country Day School for the last 5 years. Emily is a sophomore math major at FSU and April is a senior at St. Johns Country Day School. Donna says that she and Chuck are looking forward to being empty nesters next year!
