2014-15 SEASON PREVIEW Baltimore, Md. -- Notre Dame of Maryland University's swimming team aims to continue their success as they return six swimmers from last year's team. With the addition of four new swimmers the squad seeks their fourth straight year of a .500 record or better. Leading the way for the Gators will be junior Emily Jordan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright). Jordan returns after reaching the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Awards Stand four times in her career, and took seventh place last year in the 200 yard breaststroke with a new school record with a time of 2:35.07. Earlier in the year, Jordan claimed the school’s 200 yard individual medley record with a new time of 2:21.39. Emily Jordan has set three individuals records and reached the ODAC Award Stand four times in in her two years of swimming for the Gators.
Senior Jessi Duffy (Bel Air, C. Milton Wright) returns for her senior season and holds three individual records and been a part of three more record-holding relay teams. Last year, Duffy reached three finals at the ODAC Championships and was a member of four relay teams to score points at the meet.
Also returning for their senior year is Tawny Cevora (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) and Morgan Wheaton (Cape May, N.J./Cape May Tech). Cevora joined the team last season and saw improvement throughout the season on her way to score points in the 200 yard freestyle relay and 400 yard medley relay. Wheaton returns after missing the second half of the season while studying abroad, but was instrumental in the squad’s first dual meet victory with two first place finishes against College of New Rochelle. Sophomore Julianna Randazzo (Glen Burnie, Md.) comes back and provides the team with more depth after earning a finals appearance in the 200 yard butterfly and being a part of two relay teams. Once the fall season ends, sophomore Margaret Pedersen (Brick, N.J.) returns and will look to make a larger impact for the team individually after scoring points in four relays at the Championships. Joining the swim team this year will be sophomore Wendi Winkelman (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco), sophomore Erika Deppenschmidt (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia School for Girls), and freshmen Bryanne Baskette (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) and Andreana Turner (Great Mill, Md.).
