RIDE LONDON FREECYCLE Thanks to those who joined the London Cycling Campaign on the Hillingdon feeder ride into central London on the th 9 of August. There were about 25 people; led by Frank Leonhardt, who enjoyed a sunny ride together along the tow path into Paddington, and then on quiet roads to Hyde Park. We then dispersed to go and enjoy the closed road route round central London, along with thousands of other riders.
GET INVOLVED WITH HILLINGDON CYCLING CAMPAIGN The London Cycling Campaign has a local group in every borough in London. Do you have any spare time to help us develop or be involved in an LCC local group in Hillingdon? We have a designated staff member - Amy Summers who supports our local groups and would like to work with you! Email
[email protected] for details or read below!
WHAT’S INVOLVED? ORGANISE A MEETING: Could you arrange a regular (bi monthly) meeting for local cyclists to get together? This could be in a local pub, café or community centre. CALL FOR CHANGE: With other local cyclists, could you arrange to speak to, or meet representatives from the local council to discuss problems for cyclists in the area or make suggestions for improvements? We can offer full support with this from the central LCC office.
ORGANISE A RIDE OR EVENT: Are you a budding ride leader? Or do you organise led rides already? Fancy organising a ride on behalf of Hillingdon Cycling Campaign? This could be a short family friendly ride, or a longer trip. We can help to organise ride leader training and promote the event. Or maybe you’re a skilled bike mechanic who could run a workshop to teach others?
SOCIAL MEDIA: Know your way around Facebook or Twitter? We need some local people to help run the brand new Hillingdon Cycling Campaign Facebook page and Twitter account to build up discussion and awareness of cycling in the area. We can help with this to get you started.
Councillors support Space for Cycling in Hillingdon! Out of 65 newly elected councillors in Hillingdon, 11 of them agreed to support the local cycle improvements outlined in our Space for Cycling campaign.
