RHCM is one campus of five Rockharbor Church campuses. Through weekend celebration services, mid-week life groups and church planting, our vision is to raise up communities who are bringing the Gospel to a world in need. ROCKHARBOR was planted out of Mariners Church of Irvine, CA. About middle school ministry Our desire is to encourage and equip middle school students to find their true IDENTITY in Christ. We would like to foster a new generation that has an active relationship with God. We strongly believe that spiritual development should begin and end with parents as the primary nurturers of their children’s faith. With this in mind, our resources support both the church and home with a focus on knowing God personally, igniting a passion for Christ, learning to listen to his Spirit, keeping Biblical content true to context, and cultivating a concern for people’s needs in our communities and the world. This position exists to partner with parents in their endeavor of passing faith down to their children by developing a team of leaders who are relationally connecting and mentoring middle school students.
About the position This position is a Full-time [40 hours/week] permanent position. We would like this position to start no later than August, 2015. This position reports to the Families Pastor, Bryan Pogue. Staff members are expected to adhere to ROCKHARBOR’s leadership guidelines [which can be provided upon request]. ROCKHARBOR Church Middle School Job duties: Create and cast the overall vision for middle school ministries within the Families, and RH vision and philosophy Responsible for recruiting, shepherding and empowering of MS Volunteers Leaders to ensure healthy pastoral relationships between leaders/students Create bridges of communication and partnership between parents and leaders. Create and maintain Parent Council for overall ministry support. Develop and implement a compelling vision and model for Middle School life groups and weekend programming. Create a team to help plan/implement MS services (Sundays) Develop and oversee a middle school teaching team. Work in partnership with RH Celebration Team for Student Integration weekends in The Centre. Work in partnership with the high school pastor to present a united student ministries. Create and further develop relationships with those outside ROCKHARBOR in order to allow middle school to be outward focused in their appeal to students knowing Christ. (Local church, FCA, Young Life, etc..) Plan and implement camps, events, and missional opportunities for middle school that adhere to the vision and values of middle school, families, and RH as a whole. Work in partnership with Families Admin Associate for administrative aspects of MS ministry. Play an integral part in RH and Family Ministry events such as Easter, Tru Gathering, VBS, etc. Attend brainstorms and partner with David C. Cook in the development of Tru:Identity curriculum. Attend regular meetings to align efforts, such as Family Ministry meetings and Costa Mesa Campus meetings Qualifications Intimate and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ 3-5 Years experience in a Middle School Pastor position Passion for and understanding of the middle school age group Experience in recruiting, developing and leading a team of volunteers An overall understanding of how to build and run a service that uniquely reaches middle school students The capability of creating environments for students to hear from the Holy Spirit Creative and willing to try new things Leadership, organizational and time management skills Cooperative and servant attitude Team player Strong communications and discretionary skills Willing to support policies and leadership of ROCKHARBOR
