Offensive Player of the Year

Clay Garcia, Colorado Mines, Junior, Quarterback, 6-0, 200 Alamosa, Colo./Alamosa HS A four-time RMAC / Rawlings Offensive Player of the Week selection (Sept. 6th, Sept. 27th, Oct. 25th, Nov. 15th). Named NFFCC Player of the Week on Oct. 25th. A unanimous First Team Academic All-RMAC selection. Named RMAC Football Academic Player of the Year. A CoSIDA / ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District VII selection (College Division). Is one of 24 finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy. Leads RMAC in passing yards (3813), touchdown passes (38) and passer rating (144.9).

Defensive Player of the Year

Marc Schiechl, Colorado Mines, Senior, Defensive End, 6-3, 260 Lakewood, Colo./Bear Creek HS Was also named RMAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. Recorded three sacks against Adams State on Oct. 30th to become the all-time NCAA Division II leader in that category (42.5). Nominated for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award. 2009 All-American by AFCA, D2football.com and Don Hansen’s Football Gazette. Named first team All-RMAC three times (2008, 2009, 2010). Leads RMAC in sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (17.0).

Special Teams Player of the Year Kevin Berg, Chadron State, Senior, Punter, 6-0, 185 Longmont, Colo./Longmont HS Set a school record averaging 43.6 yards per punt, which is second in the RMAC. 2009 first team All-American by AFCA. Named first team All-RMAC twice (2009, 2010). Also named first team All-RMAC as a safety on defense this season. Berg led the Eagles in interceptions (4), despite missing a game, and was third on the team in tackles (58).

Coach of the Year Bob Stitt, Colorado Mines Led the Orediggers to a share of the RMAC championship with an 8-1 conference record. CSM (9-2) will play in the NCAA Division II playoffs on Sat. Nov. 20 at Grand Valley State. This is only the second time the Colorado Mines football program has earned a bid to the post season playoffs (2004). This is the second time Stitt has been named RMAC Coach of the Year (2004). In 11 years as head coach at Mines, Stitt has a career record of 76-48 for a .613 win percentage, the best in school history.

Offensive Freshman of the Year Glen Clinton, Chadron State, Running Back, 5-10, 175 Cody, Wyo./Cody HS Was the second leading rusher in the RMAC with 1020 yards. Clinton was the first Eagles running back to top 1000 yards since Danny Woodhead in 2007. Averaged 5.2 yards per carry and scored seven rushing TDs. Returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown against Colorado Mines with 1:07 remaining to help Chadron State achieve a 38-31 victory. Was also named second team All-RMAC.

Defensive Freshman of the Year

Beau Martin, CSU-Pueblo, Defensive End, 6-2, 245 Littleton, Colo./Mullen HS Finished second in the RMAC in quarterback sacks (7.5). Also finished eighth in the conference in tackles for loss (10.5).Helped the T-Wolves lead the RMAC in scoring defense, allowing just 15.6 points per game. Martin had 31 tackles and forced a fumble playing as a true freshman. Was also named second team All-RMAC.
