♦ The 2012-13 Highlanders are one of the youngest teams in the country with over half of the roster consisting of freshmen (8 freshmen, 4 sophomores, 1 junior, 1 senior) ♦ RU has two returning sophomores off of last year’s Big South All-Freshman team in guard R.J. Price and forward Javonte Green. ♦ The Highlanders were picked to finish fifth in the Big South North Division in the coaches/media preseason poll. ♦ RU is 34-4 all-time in home openers. Three of those losses came in overtime (2002 v. Howard; 1984 v. Georgia Southern; 1980 v. St. Paul’s). The only team to defeat RU in regulation in a home opener in its history is Lock Haven in 1989.

♦ The Highlanders have not lost a home opener in nine straight seasons. The last team to defeat RU in its first game of the season in Dedmon was Hampton in the 2002-03 season. The Pirates won in overtime, 63-58. ♦ Radford is 1-0 all-time in home openers with Mike Jones as head coach.
